Is it just me or are all maternity clothes this year totally crap?

I know I only found out I was pregnant yesterday but being 11 weeks and going on my last pregnancy, I was wearing mat clothes by the time I was 12 weeks.
Plus its a good excuse to shop.

But I am so disappointed. I'm either going to look like a cheap bunch of flowers and not just any bunch, the last sorry bunch that you see on the garage forecourt. Or a hessian bag.

Or am I looking in the wrong places?

I think most of the styles this year so far are pretty crap. Not just the maternity ones!
congrats btw!

H&M is the only place I've found anything truly nice so far this year.

Gap had some nice non-mat jersey tops that might as well be matwear, they are so long and stretchy.

Also got some basic stuff from Next and Next to Nothing (3pk of tshirts for £10 etc).

Maybe get on Ebay and buy really expensive brands (Isabella Oliver, Crave, Push, Picchu etc) vastly reduced?

I'm due back to the UK this weekend - any recommendations for maternity shops or internet sites. I do agree - the majority of the websites I have seen are pretty horrendous - I'm pregnant not blind! The only decent clothes are Homebody, but rahter expensive!!

MrsB - I guess our posts crossed.

debenhams has some nice stuff in

but really do you need loads of stuff? I only ever need one pair of jeans tbh. i wear normal tops etc and there is plenty in fashion thats adaptable. Leggings, smocks etc

Nbg · 02/04/2007 18:16

Well I only had my ds in August and after I had him I sold all my maternity clothes.

I forgot about Debenhams.
With ds I loved Dorothy Perkins but I havent been over enamoured with them either.

Congrats.

maternity clothes are always, IMHO, crap.

They like to make you look a sad, frumpy drab. As if piles aren't bad enough

Nbg · 02/04/2007 18:21

I know!

Horace that doesn't always work - before this pg I wore quite fitted stuff and my waist was my slimmest bit so often wore things that were snug there... so by 15wks ish nothing I owned fitted.
Nothing.
Admittedly I got by for a while with trousers one size up and buying some non-mat long tops, but am now in matwear full time.
2 trous and 6 or so tops are doing me though.

Blandmum · 02/04/2007 18:21

Second time around I was in maternity stuff not long after the line went blue

apeainapod · 02/04/2007 18:25

8 weeks and already out of my normal size jeans! However I always say it's because it's number 4 in so many years!!

We have a lot of power failures where we live....!!
