Dress fits but very very tight Blush generally feel crap about myself. Me and other (beautiful and also gorgeous figured) bridesmaids are having hair and makeup done but don't think will be enough T make me feel good about anything.

Any thoughts on how I can make myself feel better? At the moment want to pull out but know if be such a bad friend if I did Sad

Get over yourself. Its not your wedding and the bride could have put you in a bin bag if she wanted.

If the dress is really too tight, get a seaweed wrap to lose the inch needed short term, or add a secret button or zip somewhere.

wobblywonderwoman · 01/09/2017 07:57

Is it tomorrow or next Friday ? If it is next Friday, plenty of water and maybe slimatee from health shop

BigGreenOlives · 01/09/2017 07:58

You will be the best bridesmaid as you'll let the brides beauty shine? All her efforts to look radiant will be supported by your perfectly natural lack of commitment to starving yourself for someone else's party. You are clearly a true true friend of the bride.

Hope you have fun & enjoy your friend's big day.

RubyGoat · 01/09/2017 07:59

Can you get one of those waist reducing underwear things? A bit like a corset but modern & elasticated, they do still pull you in quite a bit.

FartSmeller · 01/09/2017 08:00

So you've got a week?
You can definitely make a difference and lose some water weight in that time.
Can you get out and buy some Spanx?

NorthernLurker · 01/09/2017 08:01

If it's next week then, a few days counting the calories and cutting out carbs will help, lots of water. An aromatherapy massage to boost your self esteem.

If it's today, have a big cup of tea and visualise how important the day is for your friend. Then if you have time go buy some expensive and lovely lingerie and pull yourself together :)

ponderingprobably · 01/09/2017 08:02

See if you can let out a seam? Is there anyplace that does alterations near you. They might be able to do it in time if you take it in today.

CiderwithBuda · 01/09/2017 08:06

You can do a lot in a week. It is a week isn't it? Not today?

Strict diet. No carbs. Loads and loads of water. Lean proteins. Veg. Be really strict. It's only for a week. You could lose quite a bit and yes most of it will be water but should maybe be enough for the dress to not feel so tight.

Those wraps do make a difference but as soon as you drink it will go back on but might help.

Yes to bloody good supportive underwear.

Really look after your skin too this week.

RubyGoat · 01/09/2017 08:08

Yes, definitely ditch the carbs! Try to increase your water intake as well. I bet if the dress is a snug fit now, you can make it at least a tolerable fit in a week. Especially if you get some Spanx* for underneath.

*Other brands are available. Grin

Do a protein smoothie plan, using almond milk, protein powder, kale, raspberries, blackberries (not bananas) or whatever fresh fruit you fancy. Have one of these mid-morning, a light afternoon snack of a small
handful of nuts and a piece of lowfat cheese, for example, or apple slices with a tablespoon of nut butter and a big salad with some balsamic vinegar & a tiny drizzle of olive oil with poached fish or chicken for dinner. NO alcohol, avoid caffeine and drink lots of water - cold water with a slice of lemon or green/herbal tea. Walk everywhere, take the stairs instead of the lift, etc. Get lots of early nights, good rests...

I promise you'll feel and look much, much better in a week! Smile

MaryLennoxsScowl · 01/09/2017 08:25

Poor you! Don't quit though, it would be more embarrassing than going through with it as everyone will ask if you and the bride fell out - and assuming you didn't, you'd be letting her down.

Get some good exfoliator and aim to exfoliate twice in the week, put body lotion on every day, have your eyebrows done, go to the gym/swimming pool/run at least once and you'll feel far better.

habibihabibi · 01/09/2017 15:13

LIght spray tan, big knickers, and unpick a little of every seam you can .

CallySinammon · 01/09/2017 15:30

'Get over yourself. Its not your wedding and the bride could have put you in a bin bag if she wanted.'

Why do some people need to be so pissy??

CallySinammon · 01/09/2017 15:33

Your best options OP are

  1. Strict low carb for a week and you'll lose a few pounds that might make all the difference to the dress

  2. If the dress is uncomfortably tight (can you sit down in it without worrying it will rip?) have the seams let out a bit. I had to do this last minute with a bridesmaid dress from China that would only have fit a teeny weeny sylph. The dressmaker worked magic on it.

PrimalLass · 01/09/2017 16:17

Proper low carb. I've lost 4lb in three days this week.

prettywhiteguitar · 01/09/2017 16:26

I would try all the diet stuff as above Grin plus get the nip and fab glycoloic pads for your skin and get as much sleep as possible. I look 100% better when I go to bed at 10pm. Good luck!

BitOutOfPractice · 01/09/2017 16:40

If it's next Friday you can definitely make a difference by then. As PPs have said, ditch the carbs and you'll lose 4lbs I reckon. That could make the dress much less of a squeeze.

Either way, try and go and have a lovely time. I'm sure you'll look gorgeous

specialsubject · 01/09/2017 16:43

Scammy no effect teas and mushing up good food never did any thing, certainly not weight loss. Crash dieting will just make you cantankerous.

Get the dress adjusted if uncomfortable, and smile. You aren't the centre of this.

RefuseTheLies · 01/09/2017 16:44

You can definitely make a difference in a week if you cut out carbs. The dukan diet worked miracles on the run up to my wedding.
