Can you wear ripped jeans in your forties?

I follow a few instagrammers and I really love how they wear ripped jeans. But I'm in my forties so not sure if I would look like mutton dressed as lamb?

These instagrammers all look really petite with skinny legs, whereas I'm quite tall and a size 12/14 but my legs are okay.

Don't want to look ridiculous (but I really love them).

One of my very good friends is edging towards 50 and can still carry off ripped jeans. Do it!

BearFoxBear · 31/08/2017 21:19

I do!

wtffgs · 31/08/2017 21:33

Yes I wouldn't because I hate them

Please wear what you like and enjoy your life Smile

GinAndToast · 31/08/2017 21:34

I do!

BuzzKillington · 31/08/2017 21:35

I think yes, if your legs are slim and your knees aren't fat.

WillowWeeping · 31/08/2017 21:35

Yup definitely Smile

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 31/08/2017 21:35

I wouldn't. Am normally in favour of wearing what the hell I want, but I don't think ripped jeans flatter many people, whatever age, especially those with the knees poking out.

FurbysMakeSexNoises · 31/08/2017 21:38

Wear whatever the fuck you like. At any age.

TakeMe2Insanity · 31/08/2017 21:41

If you want to do it go for it.

I'm 41 and don't. Thats more because I almost had to go into therapy to stop wearing them when they went out of fashion last time!

PrimalLass · 31/08/2017 22:02

I've just bought some that are distressed rather than ripped. I'm 43.

needtimewithwineandlesswhine · 31/08/2017 22:15

Wear whatever you want to and feel good in, Don't waste precious energy caring what other people think of a few holes in your jeans.

CheckingMyPrivilege · 01/09/2017 01:52

Of course.

oldmanfromscene24 · 01/09/2017 05:38

Course you can!

AuntieStella · 01/09/2017 06:09

Yes.

Always choose your clothes by your mirror, not a calendar

NobodyKnowsMeAtAll · 01/09/2017 08:25

Um. I do. Favourite pair are ripped Uniqlo boyfriend jeans. Am 45.

pullingmyhairout1 · 01/09/2017 08:26

Definitely do

Whathaveilost · 01/09/2017 08:27

They look riddiculous on everyone never mind over 40!

specialsubject · 01/09/2017 09:51

You can wear them at any age but they still say ' fashion victim with no light in the bedroom'.

They are serious emperors new clothes.

Bluesheep8 · 01/09/2017 09:53

Yes yes and yes, if you like them and they suit your style then they work at ANY age. I'm 44 and I wear them

Henrythehoover · 01/09/2017 09:54

Wear whatever the hell you want. I wish I had the confidence to even show my legs but I think it's been so many years now as the last time I bared my legs was at school and I'm now 34 so the whiteness could probably blind people.

BackforGood · 01/09/2017 10:25

I'm in the 'wear what you want' camp.
They will make you look like mutton dressed as lamb / like you are trying too hard / whatever phrase you want to use, but why be limited by what other people are thinking ?

Moppet5 · 01/09/2017 10:38

I bought a cheap pair as I wasn't sure but now have just bought my second pair as I wore the first so much the are now a bit too ripped 😂
I don't think they look mutton, not as if they are daisy dukes!

imjessie · 01/09/2017 11:12

I'm not skinny , am 43 and I wear them . I have a very beach casual style though . I think I look cool! 🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️

CKBluebell · 01/09/2017 11:30

Hell yes. I'm 43 and wore ripped jeans with Vans sneakers the other day.
Right down with cool kids me. Grin

acoupleofdaysago · 01/09/2017 13:11

Fuck yeah. Go for it.
