Help me find my perfect biker boots!

Several years ago I bought a pair of Rocket Dog Nokout biker boots (see pic). They were sturdy oiled leather and withstood three years of resoling and reheeling (the cobbler actually commented that they were great quality)

Sadly last year they died irreparably and I had to bin them. Even sadder, Rocket Dog don't make them any more (although did have a suede version called Knockout, but I don't want suede).

I've got various saved searches on my eBay alerts but never struck lucky. Can you help me find worthy replacements? They need to be leather, black, very chunky sole and heel and mid calf (rather than ankle). Preferably silver hardware. I'm a size 8 and my budget is ideally around £100 although could stretch to a little more if they were top notch quality. I like this exact style (classic biker) and don't like zips on outside of leg or doing weird twisty things, or tassels or studs etc.

Many thanks 😊

What about a nice dark brown shiny leather example of the same? Aquatalia ones are going home.

DollyPartonsBeard · 30/08/2017 20:12

zipitydooda Thanks - the first Cat ones look promising, I'll have to check the leg length as my long feet can sometimes make shorter boots look oddly disproportionate!

Eeyore thank you but alas I'm a recovering goth and not quite ready to brown just yet!

I've got the ones in the last link from @zip I bought them 8 years ago and still wear them every winter. They're still going strong

VioletCharlotte · 30/08/2017 20:16

Watching with interest! I've not been able to find a really good pair of biker boots since mine died 3 year ago.

Zipitydooda · 30/08/2017 20:24

Nikitasol I also have those in brown (10 years old) and black (8 years old)! Some of the newer ones are tempting me though!

Paintbox · 30/08/2017 21:30

Op, slightly off track here but are you sure your rocket dog ones were leather? I thought rocket dog only made faux leather shoes and boots

ocelot41 · 31/08/2017 06:38

Thanks for listing the Cat ones - I like the peat version. Was also trying to replace my trusty biker boots in brown. Now I just need to find some good knee highs...

KeepCalm · 31/08/2017 06:41

Don't flame me down but best ones I ever had were Clarks and they finally died last year am clinging on to hope they might do something similar this year for my bananaboats size 8 feet😳

RatOnnaStick · 31/08/2017 06:48

I came in just to nose and have now bookmarked the Cat Randi boots. Thanks for that.

DollyPartonsBeard · 31/08/2017 08:47

paintbox they were definitely leather, really chunky like the stuff stirrups are made from. Seems like Rocket Dog's more recent offerings are now mostly synthetic though, which is a shame as they have a few styles I like but I'd rather have leather so they last (and get better with age - unlike myself!)

nikitasol I'm looking at those as possible contenders - the white fur is putting me off a bit but I'm guessing it gets less stark over time? (Oh dear I think I need rehab for my goth tendencies!)

I have a pair if ugh biker boots. They are there years old and I'm going to wear them today. If they are still comfy I'll reheel them. They have lasted so well

DollyPartonsBeard · 31/08/2017 08:56

zipitydooda What's the fit like with Cat boots? As I'm an 8 I have no option of sizing up!

I haven't looked at this year's styles, but I swear by FLY boots. I have four pairs in various colours and styles.

DollyPartonsBeard · 31/08/2017 09:00

bubble Fly seem great quality but I'm not keen on their wedgy platform soles - I want a proper heel I can get redone as needed. I haven't checked out their new season stock though, so thanks for the reminder!

OK, I just checked and not all Fly boots have the crepey wedge, what a revelation! There are none there that I fancy, but others might like them:

Nooooooo - I had fly boots. They fell apart after 6 weeks. The shop told me I wasn't supposed to wear them in the wet Hmm

LilyMcClellan · 31/08/2017 09:24

Try Frye boots. Solid and beautiful.

BubbleAnimal · 31/08/2017 09:44

Really LEM?! I've had one pair for 4 years, which I've worn in mud and rain and wet and they're incredible still. My other pairs are between 1-3 years old, and still great for another winter.

BubbleAnimal · 31/08/2017 09:46

Just realised I actually have 5 pairs 😂 and now I've looked at this season's I have my eye on at least two or three more!

LEMtheoriginal · 31/08/2017 09:56

YEP - I was devastated as they looked fantastic and were so comfy. Never again

Paintbox · 31/08/2017 10:09

I agree op, leather much better in the winter

DollyPartonsBeard · 31/08/2017 13:21

Lily Frye Engineers are my dream boots but a little beyond my budget, even though I know I would get my 'dollar a wear' out of them, so the investment would pay off if I could afford the initial outlay, but it's taken lots of juggling to squirrel away £100 as it is! I'll set up an eBay search.

I've got these and love them m.cloggs.co.uk/product/black-timberland-womens-6-inch-premium-pull-on-boot---black-leather/98950361/ really comfy and well made.

I had a pair of Frye Engineers which I saved up for but I had to sell them as they were SO STIFF and crippled my feet to numbness just walking around the house. They are beautiful looking and quality made boots but by God they'll need a lot of wearing in...I even tried leather softening spray etc Sad
