Pockets

Wasn't sure whether this should go in S&B or Feminism tbh...

I realised today that DP's swim shorts have THREE functional pockets in them.

His SWIM. SHORTS.

THREE. FUCKING. POCKETS.

Whenever somebody compliments me on my outfit at work I reply with "thanks...and look, it has pockets!!", or "thanks...if only it had pockets!"

Tell me about clothes-with-pockets you have known, or, preferably, that are available to buy now Grin

Phoo - Thanks for that. I think I'd want it only just below the knee, so probably too long.

Squ1ggle · 02/09/2017 07:47

I get so excited when dresses have pockets. I've found a couple in fat face recently but they're casual

Hey pockets galore (including swimshorts with pockets) on www.pocketsforwomen.co.uk/

Good for pockets: Monki, Joanie, ASOS denim dresses, Rohan but my God, I crave proper size pockets and cut at an angle that they are practical, rather than a feature and, for some dresses/trousers with a zip (Rohan good for this with their trousers). My new M&S jean pockets won't even accommodate my hands for a Status Quo style stance let alone my phone and keys, but my husband is able to carry phone, keys, fags, lighter in his two front pockets. WTF is that all about?

@bingohandjob , i have a really nice pair of Levi's but the pockets only hold my keys. I hardly ever wear them.

I don't buy dresses, trousers, skirts and jackets without pockets

I pressed Clear quote!

I make all my own clothes with pockets as standard.

However even if you don't make your own clothes it's actually really easy to have pockets added into a lot of items. There's youtube tutorials for anyone wanting to give it a go or a local seamstress will do it for you for probably about £10

Forestcantrun · 07/06/2022 15:15

Snap @Geographytrainee 🤣🤣🤣

Sugarhill Brighton, Sweaty Betty, and some M&S things are fairly pocket.

Basically a prerequisite to me buying it

My Toast nightie has pockets. Yes. Nightie.

Léighméleabhair · 07/06/2022 15:36

It’s not that difficult to unpick a seam and add a pocket in a skirt or dress or add patch pockets onto the front of the garment.

I usually add pockets to the garments I sew whether the pattern includes them or not.

KirstenBlest · 07/06/2022 16:04

@Léighméleabhair , it wouldn't be that difficult to construct the garment with pockets in the first place.

yep, this nightie has a pocket too www.pocketsforwomen.co.uk/product/11709/white-stuff-nina-night-shirt-dress but its definitely not the usual.

dudsville · 07/06/2022 21:21

Just about everything I buy has pockets, sturdy ones, I see them as a necessary part of my clothing, most of which does come from Toast/COS/Arket and those people appreciate a sturdy, functional pocket. However, I bought a pair of trousers a few years back from Whistles that had those flimsy nylon pockets and I actually took them out and made proper pockets that don't feel like I'll poke through them if I, you know, actually USE the pocket! I'd never done anything like it, but pockets are surprisngly easy. I have a kin dress that has shallow pockets, that would maybe fit a 5 year old. Fixing that grave error is my nex project.

This is useful - I think I have one too! I can't remember where I got it and (because of the pockets) I've never been 100% sure if it's a dress or a nightie!

Pockets have become a non-negotiable for me recently. I find them sometimes in vintage clothes too.

I've just taken two dresses to a tailor to have the pockets removed.

I’m a pocket remover too 😁
I have pyjamas with pockets ?? Why? I’m going to bed! What do I need in my pocket? It’s bulky to lie on!
Some clothes sit so much better once the pockets are out.

@cannaethink, pockets in pyjamas are useful if you need to wear them outside the bedroom.
