Oh mumsnetters of wisdom can you recommend a pair of going out heels that err... aren't 'heels'??

I'm a bit stumped so I've got a challenge for you s&b mavens...

I like going out and looking elegant at least for the first hour but I no longer enjoy staggering about in pointy stilettos. There's nothing wrong with them of course, but I live in a village where socialising revolves around the local pubs and other peoples' houses, and I'm at an age where I feel a bit try hard with them on. and I like to get pissed so I need to get home as safely as possible whether that is by bike or on foot

So I want some fashionable evening shoes which will elongate my legs a bit and give me some extra height, but which aren't errr... heels Confused

I tend to wear skinny jeans and black leather trousers, so the dream shoes will have to go with them. Would heeled brogues make me look like a manly golfing iron?

Black, silver or grey only...

shoe boots with a kitten heel or small stiletto?
Ankle boots with a heel?
Kitten heels?
Heels but with a thicker block heel?

I live in a similar area, with a penchant for gin, and get by ok on wedges of all sorts. I have a couple of espadrille type wedges, and winter, a pair of suede heels.

I have also been known to wear boots to walk, and put smart shoes in my bag to wear when we arrive.

Otherwise, it's pumps of some sort, which don't do much for leg lengthening!

Fluffycloudland77 · 20/08/2017 08:03

Carvela Kollude? Came in black, white, bronze & pink with jewels this year.

TealStar · 20/08/2017 08:05

Polly, thank you. All your suggestions make sense.

I'm terrified of mum boot territory so I'm wary of boots with a block heel, but I guess ankle boots aren't so bad.

I'm also deeply suspicious of kitten heels. 😄

I like the thought of heels with a thicker block heel.

I also like leopard print, to add to the colour palette above.

Thank you Airborne. LK Bennett do nice espadrille wedges don't they... I seem to live in trainers, pumps and flat loafer-type shoes these days. I can't get enough of my flat shoes. I just don't want to forget that heels are possible too... 😄

Have a browse of John Lewis online- 1000s pairs shoes- or Jigsaw, Dune , Russell and Bromley and good old Clarks.

TealStar · 20/08/2017 08:08

Thank you fluffycloudland.

They are beautiful, but too dainty for me. Sad

Thanks Polly.

There are so many shoe shops out there. Not sure where to start and I'm lazy but will have a browse through John Lewis as they have lots of brands in one place.

I'm also a stickler for quality and am willing to pay for the right pair, if I'm convinced I'll wear them over and over again.

I do like a slightly rockstar feel... if Kate Moss would wear them then so would I. 😁

Ooo Grumpyoldfucker.

Now we're talking. They are rather the business.

I've never heard of the brand though; can you vouch for their quality?

I am mad for clothes, jewellery and make up but have always been spectacularly shit and lazy when it comes to shoes.

Nothing to suggest, but those united nude boots are the bomb.

TealStar · 20/08/2017 08:40

Unfortunately though, they are not in my size Sad

GrumpyOldFucker · 20/08/2017 13:21

United Nude are fab quality and sizes are consistent. Don't have these in my size either which is a shame as I tried them on in London but didn't want to pay full price.

DandelionAndBedrock · 20/08/2017 13:29

Clarks Kelda Hope are not rockstar-y in the slightest, but they are the comfiest heels I have ever worn.

The patent take a bit longer to wear in, but I wore the suede versions to a wedding without breaking them in. DP gave me a Hmm face when he saw them but they didn't hurt at all.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 20/08/2017 13:40

If you want a Kate Moss vibe, heeled ankle boots would be perfect, and heeled boots are far easier to wear than heeled shoes.

Beautiful but only in a 7 here

Auldspinster · 20/08/2017 13:59

What about a pretty pair of dancing shoes, i've got a gold Freed pair with a 1 1/2 inch heel.

TealStar · 20/08/2017 16:13

Thanks all. Those Ted Baker boots are beautiful Remus but sadly not in my size either. Ditto the Hudsons, CaseStudy, but I have some quite similar to that. I guess I'm looking for shoes more than boots anyway - I haven't quite got my head around wearing boots again yet!

auldspinster, the Freed vintage shoes are really beautiful but too spindly of heel for what I'm after. Dandelion I am pleasantly surprised by the Clarks pair; I bet they're dead comfortable. I love them in the pewter!

TealStar · 20/08/2017 16:15

*the Hudsons are in my size, not sure why I said ditto... my feet aren't off the size scale!
