Gym Gear

For the first time in my life I am considering going to look around a gym with the intention of going along two or three times a week to get fit for summer and wedding.

Is someone able to recommend reasonably stylish gym wear and something suitable but cheap for the feet?

I'll just be doing a few machines and things. I don't want to look like a lumpy geek.

pointydog · 30/03/2007 14:23

I always imagine a .lot of eyeing up goes on in gyms - on the look out for body defects. Not that I would know

that's why its best to avoid them.

(although I was a member myself once)

OrvilleRedenbacher · 30/03/2007 14:30

I wear a pair of 10 year old trainers,a bleach flecked t shirt and a pair of very cheap trakkie bottoms form Ethel Austin.
Only thing i fork money out on is a good bra.
You are there to sweat not pose fgs.

pointydog · 30/03/2007 16:25

I know I won't be mentally strong enough to keep going to dreaded gym if I look godawful

I wear something like these and a t-shirt and I look pretty normal...I think

moondog · 30/03/2007 16:40

Pointy,noone is looking at you.
I promise

NadineBaggott · 30/03/2007 16:41

cod will

moondog · 30/03/2007 16:43

Only thing likely to cause offence is blokes in tiny shorts.
There is one at our gym who insists on doing very wide legged stretches in close proximity to any women present.
Have already expressed my displeasure to POwers That Be.

Ditto middle ages german with a perm and a thong, although suspect that someone has Had Words as now sporting less revealing briefs in steam room..

mosschops30 · 30/03/2007 16:47

we have a nike outlet shop close by so I buy all my stuff in there, I can get a top and trews for about £20.

I like buying nice gym stuff because a) it encourages me to go and b) there is a very tasty instructor at my gym who keeps me amused

moondog · 30/03/2007 16:47

Nike are evil exploitative fuckers.

paulaplumpbottom · 30/03/2007 16:48
