I've hoiked a couple of pics off google image search, but its the same skirt I have. Monsoon, navy, pink and green flowers.

Is it a summer or a winter skirt? Could it be both?
What colour and style of top / tights / shoes would work?

I want to wear it for work (teacher).

Im 5'4" size 10 and in reasonably good shape.

Winter: black polo neck, tights, ankle boots

Summer: grey marl t-shirt tucked in, bright courts

Nancy thank you but i have questions:
Black poloneck with a navy blue skirt?
What colour tights?
What sort of ankle boots?

And what exactly are courts?

Yes. Black and navy v chic. Black opaque tights and boots like this

These are courts.

Okay. I've got a black, long sleeved, t- shirt materiel polo neck. Like a sort of 'basics range ' sort of thing.

I struggle with heels. I can do wedges if they're comfortable.

I have a Zara skirt similar to that, I wear it with a cropped blouse that covers the top of the waistband (I'm very short-bodied).

Yes to black polo neck, opaques and ankle boots.

Summer - white top, navy, pink or green cardigan and tan shoes (or pink or green, if that floats your boat).

Pikachuwithyourmouthclosed · 14/08/2017 11:06

Last summer i wore it with a white tailored cotton tank and fuscia cardigan, and either tan or navy wedge sandals. New place of work has 'no open toe shoes' policy.

Plus, it's winter here now so i could do with styling it for cold weather. I don't own ankle boots. Will keep my eyes open for something i like.

If i can only buy one pair of boots what colour should i get? I have a very limited work wardrobe (just starting out). I have:
2 navy dresses
2 black and brown dresses
1 black skirt (usually wear with pink top)
2 blazers (1 black, 1 navy)
Cardigans of every colour
1 pr brown flats
1 pr navy heels
1 pr gold flats (not strictly smart enough for work but needs must)

Black ankle books, you can wear them with everything on your list except your brown dress. (Actually, you could really wear them with brown without the world ending, your home bursting into flames etc, but you know what I mean)

starkid · 14/08/2017 12:04

I don't wear anything except my comfy black leather ankle boots in winter, so if you only get 1 pair of boots my vote is on them! :)

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 14/08/2017 12:07

I think you need to find a pair of boots you love first, that comes in several colours, and then see how they look in both black and brown. I think the items you list would go fine with either.

Pikachuwithyourmouthclosed · 14/08/2017 20:48

I'm going to look for a low cut wedge ankle boot. I'm drawn to suede but ill try and avoid because they can look scruffy so quickly.
