Hi all, I'm starting a new job in a lab where for the first time in a long time I'll be on my feet all day.

Can someone recommend me some comfortable but nice looking shoes please? I'm not really fussy about what they look like but I'd rather they weren't crocs Grin. Approx £50 budget but that's flexible.

Thanks in advance for any recommendations!

Comfy trainers

hugoagogo · 14/08/2017 07:32

Ah you said nice looking! Bugger. DMs?

jellyandsoup · 14/08/2017 07:32

I work in a hospital and where clarks unloops, they a mare not lookers but so so comfy! Searchers often get recommended too

Asalways · 14/08/2017 07:32

jellyandsoup · 14/08/2017 07:32

Hairdresser here.
Most days at work are 9 hours and then I sit down at home at about bloody 10pm 😐
I do a 13 hour day one day a week.
The floors hard on my feet and over the years the best things I have found are either sketchers trainers/walking shoes and blowfish pumps.
The sketchers walking shoes have really good side support panels where as the blowfish are more narrow at the sides however the blowfish pumps are like putting slippers on Smile

Skechers go walk shoes are the business. They are light weight, comfortable, supportive, come in a variety of colours, also in trainers, and go in the washing machine! I live in mine. They also come in a 'Mary Jane' style for a more summery look.

Asalways · 14/08/2017 07:43

I've just been looking at them. Think they look a bit naff but tbh if they work... Do they do any without a white sole?

hazeydays14 · 14/08/2017 08:04

Thanks all! When I say nice looking I mean not hideous rather than stylish Grin comfort definitely wins.

I'll see if trainers are acceptable today, they haven't sent me a dress code or anything yet. Luckily I have a clarks and sketchers near by! Thanks again

Sketchers by far the comfiest thing ever!

LadyOfTheCanyon · 15/08/2017 07:41

I'm a florist and do either 10 or 14 hour shifts on my feet with no break probably illegal.
I do need a small heel so I've been living in Clarks Hamble oak brogues and they are really really comfy.

I'm a teacher, usually on my feet all day/ running between lunch duties and lessons. I find these amazing:

I find Clarks only last 6-7 months. My Gabor shoes have been going strong for 12 months and look set to continue lasting.

FaithAgain · 15/08/2017 23:31

I moved departments and got new shoes (theatre) but I had Clarks unloops before. Sod style, your feet and comfort should be your priority!

whinesalot · 15/08/2017 23:35

Clarks cloudsteppers are good. They come in a variety of styles and are like walking on pillows.

Southernc0mfortmirror · 15/08/2017 23:38

Go for the nice crocs, like these..

I wear black Skechers; they're amazing. Don't know how much they cost though as they were a gift.

Linzilou1985 · 15/08/2017 23:39

Student nurse here, sketchers go walks are really comfortable 🙂

CatchingBabies · 16/08/2017 01:24

Clarks unloops without a doubt. They are ugly but they are the best. I'm a midwife I do 14.5 hour shifts and by then end everything except my feet hurt! They are what everyone wears.

We're not allowed trainers at our trust as they are not sharps proof so never tried them but everyone I've seen with any other shoes always ends up with the unloops eventually. Plus they are waterproof which has come in very handy before!

If you get a black felt pen you can colour the stitching in and make them slightly less ugly.
