Total skincare novice at 40 - tell me where to start!

Where do I start with skincare? I have paid no attention to this, and have no idea what treatments or products are worth the money or how to tell if they're good for me.

My skin is pale and I tend to have an oily nose, otherwise no issues, but I'm 40, starting to get lines on my forehead and under my eyes, and I generally look a bit tired and disheveled!

Any advice for a total novice?

I started using La Roche Posay when I hit 40 and have never looked back!

They have something for every 'issue' - dry, rosy, anti ageing etc

I started with the 3 step pack and have tried most of the range now!

The Hydreane Riche is super moisturising and the under eye gel is the only one that hasn't broken me out in spots

I also bang on about Boots traditional range Glycerine and Rose Water (£3!)- it leaves my face soft and supple but can feel like it has 'something on' until you get used to it. Great for protecting against the drying air con at work
