well i wouldn't approve but wouldn't rush up to say anything either!

morningpaper · 28/03/2007 15:26

Lots of people still wear fur

You can't pelt ALL of them with eggs

MrsApron · 28/03/2007 15:26

Nothing really. She has probably had it for years since before the whole fur is evil thing.

She probably does it to be dressed up for her grandchild's concert. Which is nice.

hunkermunker · 28/03/2007 15:26

Jeepers! I'd stone her.

RTKangaMummy · 28/03/2007 15:26

No i didn't say anything

she was sitting in front of me at DS school concert

I was rather surprized

I hate fur but I doubt it matters she wore it to a childrens thing. they wont notice.

oliveoil · 28/03/2007 15:26

Same as if I saw them walking up the street

tut inwardly

and fake looks very real these days anyway (ie like a prostitute) so she may have had a fake on

skibump · 28/03/2007 15:27

Wouldn't say anything now, but as a child had I noticed I would have had the screaming abdabs!

chopchopbusybusy · 28/03/2007 15:28

Well, if it was today, my first thought would be, bloody hell she must be hot!

Seriously though, I don't approve of fur coats but I certainly wouldn't say anything to her. Anyway, if she's elderly chances are she's had it for years before it became so shocking to own one. My Mum's got one that she inherited from her Mum.

RTKangaMummy · 28/03/2007 15:29

I am sure it was real

she wasn't the age to have a fake one

I think it was rather old as was she - about 75

it's mild for the time of year isn't it

perhaps

TeeCee · 28/03/2007 15:31

I'd hate to see anyopne wear fur, whereever it was. Don't think the location makes a difference.

When DD1 was tiny we went to London Zoo (never again btw!). We were looking at the leopards when a woman wearing a fur coat came and stood next to us and was chatting to her son about how beautiful they were. Now I know zoo's aren't great places but fgs. I had to say something to her.

Same with the woman who had a go at me for letting my big soft boxer lallop around the park off the lead. She got a mouthful from me and I bought up the fact that she was wearing an animal etc.

However I wouldn't have said anything to this old woman at kids concert thng. I just would have refused to stand anywhere near her and maybe stared very hard at her coat in a 'ewwwwwwwwwww' way if she'd caught my eye.

zippitippitoes · 28/03/2007 15:32

oops for some reason I read the thread title as what would you say to an elederly woman wearing a fur coat at a child's concert!

nailpolish · 28/03/2007 15:32

whasserface Campbell is wearing 2 different fur coats to do her community service in new york

(see thsi wks Bible)

....(i mean Grazia)

SueW · 28/03/2007 15:34

Nothing much really. You don't see fur much here but when we were in Switzerland, every woman over 40yo and def over 50 seemed to wear fur.

OrvilleRedenbacher · 28/03/2007 17:02

this is a fnatastic mn thread
so many differnet moral issues all on one!

GibbonInARibbon · 28/03/2007 17:07

the same campbell that did the "I'd rather go naked than wear fur" campaign

I hate fur....and as a veggie won't wear leather either, but old dears think it's no more than dressing up for childs concert. She probably felt like the queen.
