Your mission, should you choose to accept it, oh style gurus.

I want something summery, to wear to work, with low heels, but not too formal, light colour, I'm thinking cotton with a bit of stretch....on or just below the knee.

Seen nowt like it in the shops, but choice nearby is a bit limited - need to order something on-line probably?

Pencil skirt, calf-length, not stretchy = majorly embarrassing hobble skirt c.1988. Trauma flashback!

with one button

FrayedKnot · 27/03/2007 20:21

No, not calf length!

Lower legs are possibly the only bits of me still worht displaying, so feel I must make the most of them.

And since I have discovered a foolproof method to using that fake tan stuff, I can do it this year.

Next one would owrk, cod, thanks - Principles a bit wintery looking.

What is summery about a pencil skirt?

MrsBadger · 27/03/2007 20:22

high waisted one on left?

Hathor · 27/03/2007 20:22

OoOH do tell us the foolproof thing about fake tan. Not been brave enough to try it yet.

Hathor · 27/03/2007 20:23

That model looks like Joanna Lumley MrsB. Expect to fall over pi**ed when getting into your sports car.

quadrophenia · 27/03/2007 20:24

agree they are not particualryl summery, ones in next look ok

FrayedKnot · 27/03/2007 20:33

Think they could be summery in beige for instance, I ma thinkign about work stuff..what do you wear to work that is more summery? I'm fed up of linen trousers.

The fake tan thing, my theory is you have to be preapred to shell out for one salon applied St Tropez at teh beginning of the summer. When it starts to fade you start using the cheap fake tan moisturiser stuff (which normally makes me streak like crazy, I have weird skin). This has the effect of topping up the St Tropez without the streaks.

I tried it before Christmas when I had a St T before a party & then kept it going for a couple of weeks for anoterh night out, and it really worked.

fishie · 27/03/2007 20:51

tulip skirt could be good? or is it too last yera?

cod that green skirty woman was a plus size they are allowed a tum i hope. no excuse for that skirt though.

MrsBadger · 27/03/2007 20:55

if it suits your shape will look good any year - Next have similar here but skip ghastly top.

fishie · 27/03/2007 21:07

ooer for frayedknot not moi it would be a disaster. mrs b i am basically funnel shaped. with a small head. not nice in a tulip skirt.

MrsBadger · 27/03/2007 21:14

hang on, if you have wide shoulders will a swirly a-line skirt not help balance them?

fishie · 27/03/2007 21:22

best in something between straight and a line otherwise there is risk of large rectangle with little legs and legs sticking out - i am a size bigger on top. actually a pencil skirt looked quite good 20 yeras ago but i was a coupel of sizes smaller then.

MrsBadger · 27/03/2007 21:24

ah, I had a cinched waist in mind - maybe not then
