If you're a skinny jean/cons wearer, what would you wear to a Christening?

I'm Godmother in a few weeks and I've been told to be smart! Being smart is definitely not my forte.

What would you wear?

I'm quite liking the idea of something with a floral pattern (although that's v unusual for me) and am also considering some of those high waisted trousers with the tie round the waist but not sure what I should wear on top if I got those.

If it helps I'm a 14/16 pear shape needing to disguise some recent weight gain on my stomach and wanting to cover my arms!

If you get floral trouser, I would probably wear those with a pastel/white coloured silk tee depending what colours match, smart shoes and a little blazer. How does that sound? Otherwise plain trousers with a slightly more statement top but keeping the shoes and blazer!

That does sound nice Smile what style top though? This is where I struggle I think.. I saw some nice floral trousers in River Island maybe I'll try them on...

Cami Top

What about something like this? There is so many different colours so could pick a colour out the trousers.

I like that but I def want something with sleeves!

I'd go for a top like this:

www.asos.com/yas/yas-floral-woven-top/prd/8273311?clr=floweraop&SearchQuery=floral%20top&pgesize=36&pge=0&totalstyles=951&gridsize=3&gridrow=1&gridcolumn=1

Navy ankle-grazer trousers and some pointy flats.

I always want to feel comfortable on occasions like this so I wouldn't go too far out of my comfort zone. How about a smarter version of what you normally wear: narrow leg, tailored trousers (H&M do some decent ones) with a plain top and maybe look for a jersey, floral blazer? I'm sure I've seen some!

Ooh I love that from Asos! And some of the others it suggests...I already have a smart light grey blazer I could wear..just trousers then. The bit I struggle with!
