I have reached the stage where I need to protect my skin, I live in a horrible polluted dirty city, which gets really hot in the summer. A doctor told me recently I really need to start using something decent on my face. I am out of the loop cosmetics wise, so do you have any ideas what product is best? I have a kind of combination skin, a bit dry sometimes, a bit oily at certain times of the month and I am 33.

Depending on your budget you could try Estee Lauder Daywear anti-oxidant moisturiser. I used it pre-kids when I could afford it. Clinique also have a City Sun-block which gives good protection, although IIRC it can be a bir heavy.

clinique do a city block cream that comes in spf 15/25 or 40.It is very good.

I have used the Neutrogena one for years, although you can't get the tinted version in the UK (why not?). I love it and even use it when on holiday in place of suncream (Had unfortunate face-blowing-up incident accompanied by lumpy rash when i used sun block last year). It is SPF15 and is nice and light and as good as any of the more expensive versions (IMO)

Thanks!! are the Clinque one and the Neutrogena ones equipped to protect your skin from the effects of pollution too? Thats my main concern, major dirt here, and god knows what else.

Not much will protect your skin from dirt. I lived in Dubai on the busiest road in the world and used Neutrogena the whole time I was there. Just have a good cleanse at night-again I use Neutrogena 'Glow' facial pads which leave you clean and soft. Now I sound like a nappy advert!

p.s I don't work for Neutrogena, either

Thanks Grumpy, I will check it out, there is loads of Neutrogena here, I never thought of using it for some reason [I live in China].
