Do you apply foundation with fingers?

Just that really? I do but getting tired of having to wash hands again after having already showered etc. What do others use to apply their foundation? I used to use those triangle sponges but there's probably a better solution I'm sure?

Beauty blenders Deffo need to be rinsed up water, otherwise they suck up the foundation.
I used to use fingers, hate brushes now use a blender and bloody love it.

Fingers also oxidise foundation and can darken it

ChardonnaysPrettySister · 15/07/2017 22:41

If fingers oxidise foundation then surely facial skin will oxidise it as well?

BeyonceZ · 15/07/2017 22:41

Fingers give me the most natural look.

HunterHearstHelmsley · 15/07/2017 22:42

Brush or fingers depending how lazy I'm being.

sooperdooper · 15/07/2017 22:43

I've always used my fingers, I've tried a sponge before but it just seems to soak up the foundation rather than spread it on my skin

I might try a brush, I've never given one a go

PatMullins · 15/07/2017 22:44

It does- that's why you should use a primer.

I know for me I have to use a shade lighter than my skin tone so that when it oxidises it's the correct shade.

Sometimes I will use fingers but I keep a pack of the Tesco Value baby wipes to clean my fingers afterwards

Ketzele · 15/07/2017 22:45

I've tried brushes and sponges, but always come back to fingers - much easier to blend. I use a very light foundation or tinted moisturiser, which might make a difference. If I wanted a heavier base (which I rarely do) it's BareMinerals and then I use the special brush.

I think that theory about fingers oxidising foundation must have been made up by someone trying to sell blenders - what does it even mean?!

ScrumDinger · 15/07/2017 22:48

I use my fingers. I need to warm the foundation to blend it properly. I've tried sponges and brushes but the finish just isn't as good.

Mary Greenwell applies foundation with fingers too and she knows her stuff!

SukiTheDog · 15/07/2017 22:50

Don't you use lots more foundation, using a brush?

knowler · 15/07/2017 22:54

Fingers to smooth on and do most of the application and then a flat headed brush to blend and finish off.

BusterGonad · 15/07/2017 22:58

I put foundation on the back of my hand and then use a brush to blend it all over, but tbh I like using my fingers too. I think you use less foundation with fingers not more!

BusterGonad · 15/07/2017 22:59

^ I dab the brush on n the foundation on my hand! I always put it on my hand first as it warms up the foundation ready for use!

BeyonceZ · 15/07/2017 23:02

Yeah I think for very light foundations or tinted moisturizers (which I use), fingers are the way to go.

LexieLulu · 15/07/2017 23:51

Depending on my foundation and how I want it to look... sponge (beauty blender - but I use real techniques version) for high coverage, brush for medium coverage, fingers for tinted moisturiser kinda days.
