I'm in desperate need of guidance! I'm late 30s and need to find an outfit to go for a night out in and go to a summer wedding. I've lost a lot of weight the last year and not much I own fits. Also had 3 chn in the last 5 years and have totally lost my way style wise and what matches my figure. I'm not a very dressy person and not particularly girly. I have lots of tattoos and short ish hair. I'm slim but saggy with medium ish boobs. I generally don't wear heels but would think about it.
When I picture what to buy I think of an awesome big skirt ala carries swishy tutu style or a big prom type thing with a vest top. But then I think I'm not talk or slim enough for that. Any ideas? Or web suggestions? I'm a keen ebayer and prefer to buy second hand expensive stuff (that was originally but is now cheap on eBay!) if possible but open to new.

Have you looked at lindybop? I have a couple of dresses from there and they're very flattering and could work for night out or wedding depending on accessories etc

I love some of the patterned midi skirts from www.chicwish.com. I have this one and it's amazing on - I'm 5'3" so quite short, and the length and swishiness is great!

I'd book a free stylist session with John Lewis or similar, there's no obligation to buy. It would be interesting to see what styles & colours an outsider would suggest for you. They would suggest shades & styles which suit your body shape.

John Lewis is a great suggestion but our nearest is a 2 hour drive away :(
I love those skirts in chicswish but don't like to buy internationally if I can avoid it. I hate the exchange rate! I'm not sure if I'd suit a skirt like that - do you need to have a small pert top half?! I'd never even considered a jumpsuit...I shall browse. I just feel so lost!

What kind of night out? What do you 'think' the other people there will be wearing?

Floisme · 13/07/2017 07:07

I would follow your instincts and get a swishy tutu skirt from somewhere like Elsie's attic - here It would look fabulous with tattoos. Don't overthink it - just do it.

It'll be a night out with mixed age females (work and social) then a wedding wth family. I do love swishy tutus...
