Nothing to do with S&B but maybe you lot can help me anyway!

Wasn't sure where to post, so hoping that you gorgeous lot can help me.

I need a small suitcase, to use as carry on. The airline says it can be 55 by 35 by 20 and I'm really struggling to find one small enough. Any ideas, please? Ideally I'd like to be able to see it/hold it irl, so would prefer a real shop rather than Amazon etc.

Such a thing must exist, surely?! I don't care what it looks like.

Not entirely what you asked, but I just bought Arcido Faroe backpack from amazon. It's the size you want, really lovely looking and opens out like a suitcase. I'm really pleased with it.

doreme · 11/07/2017 18:58

Primark! I bought a perfect carry-on case in there.

curragh · 11/07/2017 19:03

I travel a lot for work and got a great little carry-on case in TK Maxx. They usually have a decent selection

Floisme · 11/07/2017 19:06

I've seen some mahoosive make up holdalls (we used to call them vanity cases - are they still a thing?) which look the size of small hand luggage to me. Would they work? I think one was from Avon. You might have to buy them with a load of shit inside though.

annasfarmgirl · 11/07/2017 19:07

I was also going to suggest TK Maxx, I've seen some great light cabin baggage there.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 11/07/2017 19:29

Thanks all. I've got a backpack but am finding them harder to carry lately, and could do with wheels. Will have a look in TK Maxx and Primark.

HEMA has several in exactly that size. I thought IKEA had them too including a handy wheely backpack but they're just a smidge too big. Can I be nosy and ask which airline it is so I can avoid it.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 11/07/2017 19:43

Ooh the Hema ones look decent. The Amazon one also looks fine, although maybe the Hema one might be better quality. Will have a look irl. Thank you.

Airline is Flybe.

I have a World's Lightest case, which I'm really happy with. It's especially good if you have a weight restriction on your luggage. The small one here is 55 x 35 x 20: www.argos.co.uk/product/5416778 (I didn't pay that much - you can probably find it cheaper elsewhere)

Or there's this one by the same brand (IT Luggage) reduced in Tesco. Also 55 x 35 x 20: www.tesco.com/direct/it-luggage-tritex-quilted-4-wheel-persian-red-cabin-case/289-5217.prd?promoId=promo47670074&skuId=289-5217

tangledup123 · 11/07/2017 20:03

Sorry, second link doesn't work, but it's the pink/red IT Luggage case reduced to £26.50 on the Tesco website.

Bagsetc.co.uk, got some nice ones in sale and deliver

Lucked · 11/07/2017 20:21

I have this cabin max bag the dimensions are different to yours at 50x40x 20 but it is squishy so could squeezed into those bag check things.

No wheels but backpack and it holds loads especially if you use packing cubes.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 11/07/2017 20:23

What are packing cubes?

OP posts:
Lucked · 11/07/2017 20:25

This is the right dimensions and there is a picture of it fitting in the Flybe bag checker.

here

Lucked · 11/07/2017 20:28

Packing cubes are little bags you pack into before your bag, loads on amazon and allow you to pack without your bag bursting at the seams. I get loads more in.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 11/07/2017 20:38

Thanks again all. I am very annoyed that this isn't something I can get easily and fairly cheaply from John Lewis!

JaceLancs · 11/07/2017 23:17

I can recommend the IT range especially the ultra lightweight with wide handle
Tesco cheapest at moment but also sold at matalan, bags etc and tkmaxx

margaritasbythesea · 12/07/2017 08:16

I have a lightweight one too as upthread. Mine us very squishy and very light. I love it and mainly carry clothes etc. Dh hates it and mainly carries books and papers so be warned about that.

Haffiana · 12/07/2017 09:52

Eastpak Tranverz XS or S. John Lewis do in fact sell them, but probably cheaper from Amazon. Lovely strong, good quality suitcase. It will still be going strong in 10 years time when all the cheapo 'Lite' cases have disintegrated! You could also get the larger Tranverz S and tighten the two straps around it to ensure the depth is no greater than 20cm - this is in fact what I do to get those dimensions.

They have 2 separate compartments in the case which lessens the need for packing cubes and the like.

I bought one in Lidl at the weekend, £15.

Veronicat · 12/07/2017 12:31

I got mind in Matalan.

Tantpoke · 12/07/2017 12:53

I have a wenger pilot case which is the right size and fits loads in it has wheel and a pull up handle. I bought it from Tesco with special wenger vouchers so it was a reasonable buy. It's brilliant quality and has outer zipped up pockets.

Morecoffeeurgently · 12/07/2017 13:21

I got mine in Matalan. Really light and you can get loads in.

I've taken it on Jet2 flights with no problem and also up and down to London on the train and it's still in good shape.
