What do I want for my birthday?

It's my birthday in 2 weeks. Dh (bless his heart) is a wonderful generous husband but he needs a list. Previous year's offerings included a Matt Cardle calendar and a golden retriever puppy. I am a fan of neither.

A lady in his office has suggested I might like a Radley handbag, but I don't know if I really want a Radley bag. Particularly as it will be likely destroyed as I am a SAHM and I don't go anywhere except out with the kids.
I'm reluctant to buy clothes for the sake of it, I just bought new perfume (Jo Malone as a result of the free giveaway!) and there really is nothing I need, but I'm wondering if there might be something I want that I just don't realise yet! Ball park figure £90-100 I guess.

What haven't I realised I need yet?

That's pretty scarecrow. Hadn't considered jewellery!

Something you can keep? Jewellery.

Or is there anything you fancy trying?

New hobby? He can get you an experience or new kit for it.

It's my birthday in under two weeks. Hubby is just giving me the money so I have it for when i do want something.

MinesaPinot · 06/07/2017 14:04

My birthday is in a few weeks, and I'd like Dave Grohl on a platter, with a side order of Tom Hardy.

As that is unlikely never gonna happen and we are going on a cruise to the Med for our holiday, I've agreed with DH that if I see something when I am away he will get it for me. The fact that one of the ports of call is Cannes with all the smart handbag shops seems to have escaped him.....!

Sorry OP, I appear to have hijacked your thread with my own fantasy birthday wishes - apologies. What about tickets for theatre or a band you'd like to see or an event you'd like to go to? or, as others have suggested, some jewellery would be nice, something to keep.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 06/07/2017 14:20

Thanks all

Your cruise sounds wonderful, I'll have one of those please!!!

He's reluctant to give me money as I never spend it, I am not the sort to just shop so it ends up going into my account and sitting there or I use it to top up my current account! So he insists on proper presents. I have just sent him a link to some nice leather converse I've been eyeing up and will keep thinking.

Posh classic-style sunglasses? (Selected by you obvs and not dh)

This is something I'd probably not buy for myself because priorites.... but would enjoy having all the same.

sweetheart · 06/07/2017 14:35

What about vouchers to go for a nice relaxing massage or get your nails done - some papmper time for yourself?

BagelGoesWalking · 06/07/2017 14:50

A whole new skincare routine from the Ordinary Grin They are not expensive and you will use them every day. I only started on Sat and I can already feel the difference (although I was only using moisturiser before so I suppose anything extra would have been an improvement).

You could buy 5 or 6 products and maybe one or two more expensive things from their higher end Hylamide or NIOD

Yes, I'm becoming addicted to something that never mattered to me before! But it's also nice to spend a bit on yourself every now and again - I'm also very bad at doing that but you should.

It's my birthday soon and I sent DH a link to these

sorry to hijack bagelgoeswalking I've been looking at this what did you buy and what does you new routine look like.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 06/07/2017 15:49

Sunglasses definitely an idea, my current ones are scratched and horrible.

I've never even heard of that range bagel so will need to do some research!

When I was a SAHM I would have loved some time on my own and some pampering. How about a spa day and a good book?
Theatre? gig? dinner and cocktails somewhere that you have to dress up for. A night away in a hotel?

One of the best presents I ever had was when my twins were small. I had a night on my own in a hotel with dvds, chocolate and wine.. and a full nights sleep - it was amazing and I could have cried when I had to go home.

I bought the Caffeine Solution (for eyebags/dark circles), Buffet (general serum full of peptides and lots of good stuff). I've also started using a Hyaluronic serum which I got from La Roche Posay but had forgotten about.

I put the HA first, on a damp face, then the eye serum, wait a couple of minutes then the Buffet. Couple of drops of each is plenty.

I plan to buy a few more things soon, (moisturiser, Rosehip seed oil and a Vit C product. The idea of the range is that each product does specific things so, instead of slathering on one product that claims to do everything, you layer specific serums that target specific issues you want to address, acne, pigmentation, lines, ageing etc.

The Buffet is the most expensive thing and that's only £12.90!! Most are about £5 - £7 each, 30ml bottles so when you're only using 4 drops a day, it should last a long time!

People rave about the stuff, a lot of it's to do with price, but also the fact that it's pure, because they're not trying to mix things and incorporate into lotions etc, so they don't have to use "filler" ingredients which don't do much for your skin. They use the active ingredients that are meant to work. Also cruelty free, vegan, no parabens etc.

Lots of videos on YouTube and Victoria Health or Beautylish are good sites to look at, as well as the Ordinary's. I ordered from Victoria Health and the order arrived in 3 days. Apologies for the humongous post!

A nice day out without kids? Spa day, afternoon tea or just hairdresser and nice lunch?

When i cant thimk of anything i just get money nd put in savings until i find something i want. Normally use it for skincare or luxuary products
