Help me look better!

I'm 46, size 16, 5'4". When I look in the mirror I see a tired saggy frump. None of my clothes seem to look right.

I have a good haircut and decent colour. Good brows. I like my face, apart from it being old and fat and tired.

I think I'd like to look like this woman. I've lost confidence somewhere along the line, and don't feel I can cope with being 'individual'. I'm not ready to go the full Allsopp. Where do I get clothes like this where the quality is good and they are cut to fit a porker?

My legs in particular are problematic, they are chubby and short and I don't like to show my calves unless I'm in thick tights. Definitely nothing above the knee. I have an overhang, so all tops need to come to the bottom of my fly, no shorter.

All suggestions welcome.

Absolutely, thinnest part of the leg is vital. For me that is below the knee and above the calf, and as a shortie with short legs that's very difficult to find.

I have a couple of pairs of peg leg trousers, they see to be quite flattering but they go very baggy once I've sat down in them for any length of time. I need to get better at heels, I can walk in them but I'm heavy so they're not comfortable.

I'm going to challenge myself to find a dress and a skirt.

Thinnest part of my leg is the same, so just below knee length suits me... but that is a frumpy length so if you're wearing something floaty on the bottom then maybe a fitted top?
Show legs OR boobs lol!

Surely there's no length that by definition is frumpy?

Lol I disagree...

There are some useful over-40s style blogs. I like Mid Life Chic and use it as a means to keep up with what's out there. There are a few others but can't remember the names.

Have a look at over40collective.com as there's a few fashion bloggers on there.

I like Hush and Finery. Not everything but I've had some great pieces from there I. The sale. The Hush sale is on now.

Remember a good fitting bra and then maybe a silk camisole over the top. as well as smoothing some lumps and bumps the camisole help clothes hang well.

Drapy shirts are good, I've got a nice white one from Ghost.
