Nose piercing

I really want my nose pierced but also I'm afraid it might make me look a bit try-hard. Like the time my hairdresser persuaded me to have a swooshy turquoise swoop in my hair and I felt like a middle aged woman trying to recapture something long gone. I think they look beautiful... but I'm a terribly conventional mum and maybe they're only for beautiful people who do exciting things...

What do you think?

If you're not sure, try sticking a small jewel onto your nostril for a few days & see if you like it. Get one from a craft store & give it a try. Bet you'll love it & want it to be permanent but if not then no harm done.
As for the pain, it's quick & makes your eyes water but no more than that Smile

nuggetofchicken · 25/06/2017 23:53

It made my eyes water a little bit but the pain wasn't bad at all. Do it! 😊

fourballs · 26/06/2017 07:47

So which side is the 'correct' side then?! Is there one or is it just personal preference?

Veterinari · 26/06/2017 07:50

Fourballs left side is traditional

I've had mine done since age 19. Always had a tiny sparkly stud and I still love it. I'm 38 this year.

RedStripeIassie · 26/06/2017 07:56

I got mine done when I was 16 and loved it. My eyes watered like mad after and it was a sting but not bad.

It's closed up but I want to re pierce it and go for a hoop.

helenfagain · 26/06/2017 07:59

Mine is on my right side, I like to be awkward!

goldopals · 26/06/2017 11:47

I got mine when I was twenty three and it hurt as my eyes watered like crazy. When I first got it I got it caught on everything... Sunglasses and jumpers and hair

Mycarsmellsoflavender · 27/06/2017 11:49

Mine is on my right too. I like to be different Grin

motherinferior · 27/06/2017 11:52

I had mine done two years ago. I was 52. It's gorgeous.

DoorsAndWater · 27/06/2017 12:12

I've got mine done, I'm 37, tiny silver stud in my left side, I love it, makes me smile Smile they used a needle to do mine with no anaesthetic, it was slightly painful but not unbearable, it's healed really well, go for it!

Whiterabbitears · 27/06/2017 17:08

Asian ladies always have it on the left side but most teenage girls seem to have it on the right? I'm not sure if either side has a meaning? The bump is called a Keloid and you can clear it up but its a pain if you get one, it takes some perseverance.

Whiterabbitears · 27/06/2017 17:10

You can get clear ones off Amazon, DD wears one for work and you don't notice it.

needsomesunshineandwine · 27/06/2017 17:16

I loved mine but it got infected about 5 weeks later, think I will get it repierced after baby.

mamalovesmojitos · 27/06/2017 17:22

Thanks whiterabbitears

Cocolepew · 28/06/2017 15:04

I got mine done today! Left side and not too sore Smile

WomblingThree · 28/06/2017 15:12

Mine hurt like a bitch (and bled like one too!). I felt like I'd been punched in the face. Then I got the sodding bump. It took hydrogen peroxide to clear it up in the end. Five years on, it still gets dry skin round it and catches on towels, but I do love it.

If you have it done, don't under any circumstances be tempted to fiddle with it. If it starts to look remotely dodgy, go back to your piercer and let them sort it.

AreWeThereYet000 · 28/06/2017 15:18

I've mine done - 27/ 2 kids. I wear a thin silver ring in mine x

Nose piercing - 13 year old

My daughter has wanted her nose pierced for months now and I tried to put her off by telling her it was illegal (which it is in Scottish legislation without my consent).
I came home yesterday to find she had pierced her own nose. I was furious and made her remove it. She's now grounded for going against my wishes. Her dad has now said she can get it done properly when the wound heals.
I am still not comfortable with it although I think she would suit it but I would prefer her to wait. She is saying she would be happy to pay for it herself. I thought offering for her next birthday in April might be better, or even Christmas.

I'm torn over how to handle it.
