Flat everyday shoes that look cool needed for busy mum

My old trusty pair of Rocket Dog shoes have given up on life and I can't find anything that's reasonably attractive and comfortable for riding the bike, hiking to school and back and wearing under trousers for work.

Anybody found anything not ridiculously pricey?

I'm a size 6 and a bit gawky, 5,9".

Campers? Merrells?
Clarks have some passable stuff - check out their mens' range too.

imaginaryfriend · 21/03/2007 12:16

I love Campers but didn't want to fork out quite that much at the moment. I don't know of Merrells. And yes, could definitely try Clarks.

Thanks.

Have you got a schuh or a qube near you - they both have FAB stuff around at the moment

Spidermama · 21/03/2007 12:20

Campers in the sale.
Merrells are uncool.
More Rociket Dogs?
Ecco's?
Birkinstocks have quite a girl range now.

MrsBadger · 21/03/2007 12:23

Merrell make, for want of a better description, urban trainers. Not all smart enough for work though.

Ecco shoes are blissfully comfy but in the same pricerange as Camper.

Washersaurus · 21/03/2007 12:34

I love my Campers (cheap from Bicester Village Outlet shop) and also have some fab rocket dog shoes..oh and some nice black Faith shoes....

Washersaurus · 21/03/2007 12:35

Am I right in thinking that Schuh have an online shop that normally has discounts?

imaginaryfriend · 21/03/2007 12:58

There's a huge Schuh on Oxford St. in town which I keep meaning to check out, I think they stock loads of ranges but not many styles within each range if I remember right.

I don't fancy the Merrells.

Yes tempted by some more Rocket Dogs but I've lived in the other pair for so long dd won't forgive me if I don't get something different!

I've never found Ecco's that I like, I tend to go for quite 'chunky' shoes. I always use Birkenstock sandals but maybe I should check out the shoes too ...

Thanks guys!

Any more ideas?

I've got some lovely ones from clarks, pale blue called funky doo here

i love them they are sooo comfy and look great with my jeans!

ArcticRoll · 21/03/2007 13:12

Converse Allstars?-low ones not the high ones.
Lots of lovely colours.
Not sure if they would be suitable for your work outfit-depends how smart you need to dress.

imaginaryfriend · 21/03/2007 13:35

Hmm, no Allstars wouldn't do.

I liked the black version of those shoes isaidno. Me and pale colours don't mix.

And I looked on Schuh and felt slightly drawn to the DM Mary Janes although they are way more 'girly' than I'd normally go for ...

The Clarks range which have the funkydoo shoes which Isaidno posted are all v comfy and look good on, better than in the photos/website.

foxinsocks · 21/03/2007 13:51

I have this dilemma too and have never solved it to my satisfaction .

Can you manage the bike in anything other than trainers?

I'd prob go back to rocket dogs if you know they fit your feet nicely.

imaginaryfriend · 21/03/2007 17:37

fox, I'm not a massive trainers fan to be honest and I don't wear them on the bike even. I've just never found a pair that I like the shape of.

fox, we have so much in common!!

All the shoes I try on look vile. I'm getting fed up of my black sequinned all stars but they remain my flat shoes of choice until I see something less granny like. Will follow this with interest.

Blondilocks · 24/03/2007 18:59

I am a big fan of Skechers.
