Where to start with make up?

I'm Maid of Honour for my DS's wedding in September and she wants me to wear make up for the photos etc.

I have never worn make up before and own approximately 0 make up products, so I need help o wise MNetters as I have no clue where to start!

Bearing in mind I have a completely illogical 'aversion' to any foundations/creams that are skin coloured, I can't countenance wearing lipstick and I'd like a very light and natural look, what products would you recommend I need and how should I use them?

Please help!

Impossible to fuck up.... that's the one for me! I also actually had no idea ASOS did make up so I'm heading over there now to have a look Smile

Remember to have a test run before the event.
Be careful with mascara, if you are not used to wearing it, it feels strange. Try something likemaybelline great lash
Powder can be drying, BB cream can feel more natural and is a lot lighter than foundation.

Mascara you can't go too wrong with. Maybe borrow a pair of eyelash curlers and don't read Clockwork Orange :)
Wouldn't bother with lipstick, I wear makeup but finding the right lipstick has eluded me so I don't bother as wrong shade can look awful. Tinted balm is best, I got the m&s Rosie Autograph lip glossy which is great but it is 12.50.
Loreal true match powder is great.
Superdrug does dead cheap blusher but worth getting a sample from somewhere .or something tested on you so you can get the right sort of shade.

Oh yes pestilential, many practice runs will be necessary!

Thanks cherries - is a black mascara the best option for a natural look or would brown be better? If I wear mascara to I also need eyeliner and should they both be the same colour?

Personally I prefer black as brown can look a bit washed out. Eyeliner is the one thing I'm never totally happy with but a good quality cheap suggestion is Soap and Glory smoulder kohl (£5 at Boots) although I don't find the sharpener that comes with it to be that good. I also find everything is better with eyelid primer but wouldn't buy new for one day! Whether you need eyeliner depends on your eyes I think, I always do because I have hooded eyelids and eyes look bare without. Bet you have a friend who's dying to try out her makeup stash on you :)

With brown hair and eyes black is probably best.
Brown works well on very fair people who have blond lashes and brows.

Second the Gosh eye shadow pencil recommendation, they're very long lasting.
