I'm 46, 5'5" and size 14 (although on a diet Hmm) have big boobs (34F) and a short non-existent waist/body. Apple shape but not bad legs. Wedding is at 4pm but I'm guessing it'll still be baking hot, and we have to walk 20 mins to reception venue down a steep hill so in my mind I'm thinking longish floaty cool dress with nice flat sandals rather than hot sweaty mess. Bride is in white so obvs need to avoid that, although could white linen trousers with pretty top be acceptable? Suggestions please oh wise ones?

Yes it will be baking. I'd go for a floaty dress ( not long if you have good legs ) and not sandals to walk down a steep hill. And a big enough bag to hold your sandals.

White linen trousers will be a creased mess once you have sat in them for the ceremony and sweaty around the middle.

I'd wear this with some jewellery - big earrings / necklace / bracelets ( choose one not all ) .

Dont think " wedding outfit ". Think " going out for a nice meal on holiday" . You want bright colours, nothing tight and nothing that will show perspiration stains . Remember you are walking down a long steep hill in 38 degree heat.

Go easy on the make up or it will be running down your face .

I am Greek, may I please make a suggestion for the wedding? Is it possible to change the timing to much later? Greeks tend to schedule the ceremony for 8-9 in the evening, then go for dinner, then party through the night when it is much cooler. Walking 20 minutes at 4pm in August may well give you heat stroke.

Sorry I don't have any advice on the wedding dress. Maybe a white dress would be lighter than a wedding dress?

Booboostwo, the OP is a guest not the bride.

Oh my goodness, sorry OP! I clearly didn't pay any attention to your post! Blush

I'd avoid trousers, too hot! A floaty dress and, frankly, for the walk a big hat or even a summer umbrella.

Something from East in linen?

I have that Hush dress in the blue triangle print which I will be wearing on holiday in Greece in a few weeks time . I am 5' 5" and 36E also. I got the M and its not quite ankle length on me , and lovely and floaty. I reckon it would be ideal.. Get a lovely sunhat and some nice flat sandals like these in the azure metallic?
