Something nice needed for friends 40th. I haven't been out with dh dressed up for a couple of years. Nothing too evening, but just 'nice'. What looks good on my shape?
Don't really want upper arms showing either. I'm 5'4, size 12-14 depending on shop.

Get some control pants...but in the meantime...what style do you favour? Do you like bright colours? Prints or plain? What about sparkle? Or are you more of a neutral colours person?

control pants don't help.I do have a major corset which is more thorough! I like things which are a bit different. Just not too short or booby.

You're exactly like me. I wear wrap dresses with ruched at the tummy. So have a slight cleavage (not major) showing with a nice necklace. Up to my knees in length or sometimes shorter. With heels or wedges. Or a really good stretchy pair of jeans. With a white wrap shirt and nice heels. I always wear my Spanx underneath though to give it a smooth look.

Thanks user. Is there a particular shop which does that style of dress?

Thanks for the tips. It's helped a lot. I also look good in straight skirts as slim bum/ thighs so tried to find something a bit rouched on tum but fairly straight over the hips. Been on House of Fraser website. Good sale. Ordering a few dresses so will see if any of them look any good. It's hard as not sure of size since I'm between sizes and really depends on brand/ cut. But I've got my fingers crossed. Really appreciate the help...thank you!

Placemarking as I'm the same shape too, and once my imminent baby is out I'll be looking to refresh my wardrobe.

OP please let us know any great finds! And good luck

THIS ONE LOOKS GOOD.

I USUALLY GO TO TK MAXX OR NEXT.

MerryMarigold · 29/05/2017 06:13

Thanks user, I'm liking the Next one.

Thanks drizzle. I will need luck. If you are under 40, please enjoy. I thought I was this shadow but since 40 I've put on so much weight.
