Summer work clothes

Help, please! I've put weight on and none of my summer clothes fit properly. I need smartish work clothes, that will suit a short person who is a big size 12, maybe a 14. I have some money (don't need supermarket bargains) but not lots (can't afford Jigsaw and its ilk). Any ideas, please?

That's nice, Screw - I can't wear that shade because it makes me look like a corpse, but I do like that sort of asylum-esque vibe on others!

The top is lovely - poly (grrrr), but that's sometimes okay in sleeveless.

I really like this but it's expensive, and didn't suit me. I'm another one that doesn't really suit blazers - tend to prefer cropped, more fitted jackets.

If cotton / linen jackets are hard to find would some kind of cardigan work instead? I don't mean waterfall! I'm thinking 'boyfriend' shape but extra long, more like a very lightweight coat but in some kind of cotton/linen / silk knit ? I like that look over narrow trousers though maybe not with dress or skirt.

I know you said no supermarket stuff but I bought this from Asda the other day and it certainly doesn't look or feel cheap.

There are a good few cotton dresses on uniqlo at the moment, many with sleeves, if that would get around the jacket issue?

cotton linen

navy cotton

can be belted too

Just reread and see you probably do need a jacket.

over budget?

some but not too much poly

Also, have you tried Mango outlet? I'm the same height as you and find the length of jackets can be good.

Some of this is okay (not some of the dresses, tops an djumpsuits - where would you be able to wear those to work?). I usually find their blazers and trousers and tops look smart for a reasonable price.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 30/05/2017 16:10

Thanks. Most of the Oasis stuff is poly.

Cardigans/long sleeves no good - has to be jackets, sadly. Will keep looking!

Mango is usually good for cotton jackets - particularly the cropped style. Evidently they are not fashionable at the moment as little on the current website but lots on the Mango outlet website site www.mangooutlet.com/GB

Thank you - good call. Haven't been in Mango for years, but used to really like it.

Those uniqlo trousers recommended above are a fabulous cut, wash and wear brilliantly. I have the black and the light grey
I find Mango good for lightweight smartish work jackets
