Wearing shorts over 50

I know on that on holiday anything goes, but when it comes to your hometown, would you feel confident wearing shorts around and about?
I'm not talking about those 'arse hanging out' shorts, or capri trousers.
I mean normal mid thigh length shorts.

I'm not struck on skirts, they don't suit me, but shorts do. Is it a no no after 50? My legs aren't too bad although my knees have seen better days.

It's boiling hot. I need to go into town and I don't want to wear a skirt. I've thrown out my capri pants they look too old lady/M&S ish ^ and don't do anybody any favours imo
So can I/should I wear my shorts?

Misguided angel .- I'm 60 and thought I'd be the oldest to say "I'm wearing mine" good for you, can't stand the idea you can be "too old" for an item of clothing.

I agree with a pp about weather appropriate clothing, personally I think the people walking about in thick black tights look worse than those showing a bit of leg, regardless of age.

I think we live in a society where it's deemed "not good form" to "show" yourself unless you're young and lovely. Being old, fat, disfigured, different is not good. To some people.

All these lovely young things of today are heading the same way as us 😄 They just don't get it, yet!

I'm 53 and wear an old pair of frayed denim cut offs. Who cares?

She was way older than me and said "I think you need to cover your legs dear".

If similar happened to me, I hope I'd have the guts to say "I think you need to mind your own fucking business, dear"

I like khaki or stone coloured shorts, slightly tailored like the woman in the photo of you may look like Don Estelle!

I couldn't )but would have like to tell her where she could stick her unwanted opinion) as I was with ds who is too old for the fluffy toy he flies with (to keep him safe) and she kept tuttting at that too. Ds is autistic.

Well I'm 54 and I am wearing my just above the knee denim ones tomorrow with a t-shirt when we go to the footie.

And I've worn them out shopping in town.

I just don't care me....

Got some shorts at TKMaxx yesterday. Heyre Bermuda style like the FatFace but very soft stretchy material. I look fine in them, if I say so myself. Not Claudia Schiffer but who really cares? I shall wesr them on the beach in Cornwall 😊

Good grief OP, shorts at your age! You should be in support tights and an elasticated waist skirt with some sensible beige shoes.

59 here.. just bought some mid/highish thigh (not so short you can see the pocket liners ) rose pink linen shorts in tkmaxx. They look pretty good on me ..eifissm..

I was only kidding OP. I'm about your age and wear shorts most of the summer.

52 year old proud shorts wearer here . Cut offs , or chino or even just cargos. My legs are ok and I don't wear them with my bum hanging out . Have grey hair too 😃

I wear shorts, quite short ones too!

I spend a lot of time in the gym so my legs are ok. My knees point towards my peasant genes I fear, but I don't dwell on them.

PollyPerky I'm not sure what kind of shorts you're thinking of, but surely in no universe would something like this look bad/inappropriate for towns/cities.

OP, wear your shorts and wear them proud!

Does it really matter, really? No it doesn't. Get out those legs and flaunt the shorts.
