Do you think this is attractive?

I don't mean the model, I just mean the pose and the clothes. This is just a standard photo on the Cos web site.

I think the way the model is posing and the clothes themselves are incredibly unflattering and unaesthetic, but I wonder if it is because I am 50 and things have changed.

When I was looking at clothes on Selfridges web site, I just thought some of the clothes were just styled so unpleasingly. Coats tied up at an unflattering level and models standing in an unstylish pose, but I am quite willing to accept that I am old and times move on....

Do you think this is attractive?

If she has balls, she's scratching them.

friendlyflicka · 22/05/2017 22:02

Style and Beauty is the nicest place.

Anywhere else and I would have come back and been told off for judging etc

I like it too. In fact I have jeans just like that from Next that I absolutely love.

It looks comfortable, simple and not fussy. Grin

PickAChew · 22/05/2017 22:08

I have some similar, fairylea. I have short legs, though, so wear them with a bit of a turn up or else they look like they're granddad fit rather than boy fit.

Saharah · 22/05/2017 22:12

I'm 31 and no I find it very unattractive.

tigerdriverII · 22/05/2017 22:21

Cos clothes are fantastic. I'm pleased you lot don't like them, as that means more of them for me!

Truthfully, they do have weird shit, but when their clothes work, they are fab. I've got five recent dresses, a sort of cross between a parka and trench coat that is the coolest thing ever and last week I picked up a dressy cobalt silk summer dress which will be perfect for a summer wedding. Everything is about £60: looks £600. What's not to like?

Floisme · 22/05/2017 22:40

If Hennes and Martiz wanted the Cos website to be more accessible then I'm pretty sure they would make it happen. I think there's a bit of reverse snobbery going on - an 'only clever people get us' thing, to create the feel of an exclusive club. I say that as a Cos fan, albeit one who came late to to the party. Same with Toast.

Floisme · 22/05/2017 22:41

Hennes and Mauritz.

Therealslimshady1 · 22/05/2017 22:53

It is in contrast to how middle aged ladies pose in style blogs/ the daily mail etc:
Legs crossed, pointy shoes stomach sucked in, fitted clothes....

I guess the Cos look is in a way rebellious, and young. No bodycon dresses, no House of Colour colours, no pointy shoes on swollen feet Grin

But yeah, I find Cos hard work to pull off

WomblingThree · 22/05/2017 23:00

Part of the problem with Cos is that the models have zero breast tissue. My boobs aren't gigantic, but they are big enough that I totally discount Cos as only fitting flat chested people.

LockedOutOfMN · 23/05/2017 00:34

Love Cos. Each to their own.

Laquila · 23/05/2017 06:08

I certainly don't object to the plain white tee and loose-ish jeans! I can't put my finger on it but I think it's the sister-wife vibe of the photo.

KoalaDownUnder · 23/05/2017 06:21

No. I think it's drab and utterly asexual.

Almahart · 23/05/2017 06:28

She does look a bit pesky as my mum would have said. It is interesting when you compare Cos's photos with that incredibly cheerful model that Hush uses. Especially as I would have thought there is huge crossover in who they are aiming at

Funnyonion17 · 23/05/2017 07:14

Reminds me of 'Dad Jeans'

Floisme · 23/05/2017 07:18

I guess it is kind of asexual but that's partly why I like it. I'm bored with clothes that cling to arse and / or boobs - they've dominated fashion for years and years and so I find this quite refreshing.

As for the gripe about them not smiling, it reminds me of men going 'Cheer up darling it may never happen.'

Badliar · 23/05/2017 07:27

I think she looks cool. If I wore it I would look like I was cleaning the car.

IfYouGoDownToTheWoodsToday · 23/05/2017 07:29

I was in Selfridges last week. It was like being in an episode of Absloutley Fabulous and walking through Eddie's wardrobeHmm

IDismyname · 23/05/2017 07:31

I'm a curvy 50 year old and have a couple of COS things in my wardrobe, but I own them despite the appalling pictures on the website!

The quality of the fabric of the items I own (heavy cotton textured cardi) and a poplin (with Lycra) dress are expected excellent.

IfYouGoDownToTheWoodsToday · 23/05/2017 07:33

Actually my 52 year old friend, who has a very similar build to me, average height, slim and boobs, keeps telling me to go to Cos, she's got some lovely items form there and they really suit her. She did warn me that I will need to go in willing to spend time rummaging and try lots on.

IDismyname · 23/05/2017 07:33

Expected excellent??
Apols.

Just excellent would do!

user1491572121 · 23/05/2017 07:37

They all look like they've come out of one of those dystopian novels that kids love so much these days.

Like...drones.

BreakfastAtSquiffanys · 23/05/2017 07:48

That styling is better than most Cos photos.

One other retailer styled all their spring stuff including skirts and dresses with the models wearing short grey ankle socks and white slide on pool shoes.
Lovely if the look you going for is "ready for swimming but I've got a verruca"

silkpyjamasallday · 23/05/2017 08:09

I actually like this look, other than the shoes, I wear similar loose jeans and baggy tshirts sometimes but I tuck them in at the front and wear with trainers. FIL did ask me why I was dressed like a plumber, but as he dresses like a wannabe rapper I will ignore his comments. I don't want to look sexy all the time, especially since getting bigger boobs from breastfeeding I look pornographic in tight tops now and loose clothing is good for rolling about on the floor with DD. I introduced DP to COS which is nice as I just steal his tops, they aren't dissimilar to the women's stuff.

senua · 23/05/2017 08:21

I've had a peruse of the website and I am so depressed. The model looks like she has a Big Do to go to. She has no clothes so she is being forced by her mother to try on every piece of clothing in her big sister's wardrobe. Everything is too big in the body and too short in the sleeve. She is hacked off, resentful and bored to death.
She will spend all of the time at the Do in a very teenagery sulk and will purposefully spoil all the photos of the happy event.
