Are expensive blushers worth it?

Friend recommended NARS fervour but its £30! Cant decide whether to go for it as a treat or find a cheaper alternative. Anyone have any views? Thanks

I second the recommendations for Milani's Luminoso as a Nars Orgasm dupe. I used too use Orgasm religiously, it was a holy grail product for me but gave Luminoso a go after becoming curious and I've never looked back, its amazing, equally as good as Nars if not better.
I've gone on to try a lot of Milani's products and they've all been equally brilliant, haven't found a meh one yet.

That said, for bronzer I don't think you can beat Wet N Wild's ones. I use Ticket To Brazil and it really seems to make me glow in a natural looking way without turning me into a disco ball.

LoupGarou · 21/05/2017 14:47

Oh yes, and I always use Elf brushes to apply with, they're cheap and work better than any of my eye wateringly expensive brushes

oddthing · 21/05/2017 14:49

Tk maxx have quite a bit of nars now blushers then up occasionally

CowParsleyNettle · 21/05/2017 14:55

Yes, it goes on so much easier than cheap stuff, I love Laura Mercier.

glitterglitters · 21/05/2017 14:59

All the people recommending Milani, where can you get it in the U.K.? I've only ever seen it in drugstores in the US?

LoupGarou · 21/05/2017 15:07

I'm in the US but you can get Milani on Amazon UK, here's a link to Luminoso...

Ihatethecold - you're right that the Max Factor creme blush is good value. I only went with NARS because the Max Factor range of colours are limited and I wanted something more apricot than they offer. I have the rose pink one (nearly almost all used up now) and it has been extremely good.

Madbengalmum · 21/05/2017 15:17

Nars Orgasm and super orgasm are my faves, used to use chanel which lasted me for years, but when i came to buy another they had discontinued it. Nars fan now, 'tis fabulous

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 21/05/2017 16:05

Sleek Rose Gold is horrendously gold/sparkle.
I have used it but had to tamper its TOWIE esque enthusiasm for Jazzle.

My favourite is a Laura Geller in Roseberry which sadly, I had to part with after it met a hard floor and came off worse.

I will rebuy as its a lovely shade for my skin. (£23 in Debenhams but I bought in QVC)

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 21/05/2017 16:08

I don't like Orgasm - too sparkly.

I use Benefit Dandelion - worth every penny.

Nospringflower · 21/05/2017 16:48

Thanks everyone. I am fairly useless at makeup and blusher in particular. So, thinking if Orgasm is quite sparkly do you wear different blushes for day/night. I am thinking that cream blushes are harder to apply but will look for that other thread about multiples!

ChardonnaysPrettySister · 21/05/2017 16:55

Orgasm is one of these products said to suit everybody and widely recommended, like Ruby Woo.

It doesn't. It can be quite muddy on the wrong skin tone and it's sparkly.

Cream blush is easy to apply if you only start with a little bit, gently tap it in and then add some more if needed. If using a multiple, don't put it directly on your skin, take some with your fingers, for quality control and to warm it up, so it's easier to apply.

LoupGarou · 21/05/2017 16:55

I've never understood why people say Orgasm/Luminoso are sparkly, they never look like that on me, just gives me a natural "lit from within" kind of glow. I use them during the day and just tend to add a touch of bronzer too for the evening. I do have light olive skin though, so perhaps that tones down the glittery aspect? Confused

I can't get the hang of cream blushers, I always end up over or under doing them, with the exception of Benefit's Posie Tint which I love and which I think is great for no makeup makeup.

ElspethFlashman · 21/05/2017 16:56

Orgasm is sheeny. Not sparkly. But I wouldn't wear highlighter with it as there's no need. So I wear it day and night cos I like a sheeny cheekbone and wear highlighter when I'm using some other blusher anyway. But not everyone is into that.

Theres one from Clinique called Precious Post which is literally identical except without the sheen.

LoupGarou · 21/05/2017 16:57

Yy to Chardonnay's comments about suits everyone. Bah to Ruby Woo, I look like Jack Nicholson's Joker. I think there are very few, if any, suits everyone shades or products.

ChardonnaysPrettySister · 21/05/2017 16:58

It's shimmery, not sparkly, TBF.

theclick · 21/05/2017 16:59

You can also get Milani in a store called Beauty Base and they have stores in Westfield and Uxbridge

glitterglitters · 21/05/2017 17:00

I love the idea of Ruby Woo but I can't get it to work for me. Too orangey. I prefer Russian Red ❤️ (though it's not a matte).

As pp mentioned Dandelion from Benefit is a lovely subtle blush too, I don't find Orgasm too sparkly myself. Deep Throat is another lovely one from NARS (bit of a fan of their names too Grin)

glitterglitters · 21/05/2017 17:01

P.s. thanks to everybody pointing me to to Milani Uk stockists. Love the brand! Their eyeshadows are gorgeous and have magnificent pay-off and blendability.

ElspethFlashman · 21/05/2017 17:01

Oh and beautybay do Milani. Free shipping over £15 for uk/€24 for ROI.

ChardonnaysPrettySister · 21/05/2017 17:01

I much prefer Deep Throat.

My new fav is Bumpy Ride.

ElspethFlashman · 21/05/2017 17:13

Btw Cait if you do find WnW I insist you check out these two, which are both amazing.
On the left is Reserve your Cabana which is the most office-appropriate highlighter ever, and on the right is Dulce de Leche which is a brightening/contour duo and the brightening side genuinely makes me look awake. And it's impossible to fuck up the contour side.

LOOOVE.

buckeejit · 21/05/2017 20:03

I love nars orgasm, like the Milani one too but it's a very different colour-much ,ore orangey peachy than orgasm

Agree that max factor creme blush is good too.

Liiinoo · 21/05/2017 20:35

I have the NarsOrgasm and some Bobbi Brown powder blusters, also some Laura Gellars, all costing £25 and upwards, but my current favourite is a Make Up Revolution palette as recommended above(£6). I have the Golden Sugar colourway. I also love the Sleek Rose Gold - I dont find it sparkly at all, just subtly light reflective. So IME you definitely don't need expensive blushers.

LoupGarou · 21/05/2017 21:41

I think so much of it depends on your individual skin doesn't it? Milani Luminoso is a perfect colour match of Nars Orgasm on me - I tried one on each cheek to check, but NYX Pinched, one of the other supposed duped looks awful and kind of Barbie pinky-orange.

Elspeth sorry to butt in but I'm going to try both to those WnW ones which you recommended thanks, I've been working my way through WnW and love it - their Cherry Frost is the only bright red lipstick which has ever looked good on me after decades of searching!
