Paris in hot weather - what the hell do I wear??

Going to Paris next weekend with dh and without kids - first time abroad without them in 15+ years. Went several years ago with kids and it was cool and damp at end of May so I planned for the same, but it looks as though it will actually be quite hot. I don't really have hot weather clothes though - our summer holidays are usually spent camping in Europe - so my summer wardrobe consists of shorts and flimsy sun dresses that are fine on a campsite but not really suitable for sightseeing in Paris. Had planned to take some jeans, nice tops, jersey jacket, scarf, along with mac and trainers for day but think that will be too hot. I'm not really a 'dress' person as I struggle with shoes to wear with them in summer (usually in birkis when not at work) & don't do anything floaty/floral. I looked like such a ragbag last time we went, and really wanted to try and look a bit more put-together this time round, but am completely stuck now. Help!!!!

I'd wear black or navy with some popnof colour. No prints. And no more than 3 different colours together.

Try not to look like a tourist and take a bag that would not be easy to cut open from behind or underneath. Maybe that can go across your body.

I know you said you don't like dresses, but a black or navy maxi dress with berks would be nice imo. And I only say black or navy because they are classic colours that accessories can change the look of easily. :) lucky you. Wish in was going to Paris.

Could you get some cut offs to wear instead of jeans with strappy tops? Either casual lightweight cargo pants style or more tailored cigarette pants..

Have a look on pintrest for sightseeing outfits, lots of good ideas on there !

Forgot to say, it's also hand luggage only. Had planned to stick to navy & grey as that's mostly my wardrobe - the three colours thing is a good idea too -but don't have navy or black maxi dress. I have a purply indigo one but it's sort of crocheted on the front so thought it would be too campsite-y. I do have navy boden chinos but don't have strappy tops - more t-shirts. My wardrobe is a combination of stuff for crappy British summers and very casual hot campsites - the chic wafty dress thing bypasses me completely!

Slim fit jeans, indigo or black
Simple grey/black/navy t shirts from uniqlo
A linen navy shirt
Simple flats and bag
'Messy' undone hair
Understated make up

I think separates are more versatile than dresses if you're short of space. Your navy chinos sound fine but, if you want something new, I've banged on before about these H&M chinos. I think they'd be cool in both senses of the word without being too 'out there'. They dress up or down and I'd wear them with L/S (because I burn) cotton or linen shirts during the day and a silk shirt / dresser top at night. Plimsolls or brogues (no sandals as my feet would burn). Denim jacket. Maybe an umbrella as you can still get heavy showers. Watch for pickpockets. Have a great time - wish I was going now Grin

Thank you all for your suggestions. Agree that separates are more versatile - I've ransacked my wardrobe and have jeans in indigo, grey and white; navy cardi; tops in grey, navy, stripes. Have also found denim skirt. Can I do white jeans or is that a bit naff? I have enough clothes but am generally rubbish at putting together outfits. Also, have recently bought this. Is it suitable? I can add flats and a navy jacket and wear out in the evening as well as daytime with birkis.
