Does facial waxing make hair grow back worse?

Just that really! I'm trying to decide what to do about all the downy hair on my face - upper lip and sides of face. I know I need to do something as make up just doesn't sit well and the older I get (33), the worse that looks. The hair is quite fair so I'm not sure that IPL is an option so perhaps waxing or threading is the way forward. I just don't want to do anything that may cause it to grow back darker or more coarsely.

Opinions and experience would be gratefully received! Thank you Smile

Anyone? Was really hoping to get a general consensus!

I have fair, downy hair on my face. I don't wax but use one of these

Not going to lie, it's not exactly pain-free, but it's less painful than when I first started using one and the hair has never grown back thicker and coarser apart from one stubborn chin bastard that pops up every so often

Nothing will change the quality/quantity of your hair. Anywhere.

Shaving cuts a pointed hair off straight across which is why shaving cab make regrowing hair look 'thicker' - it isn't actually but looks thicker because it does not have a point.

Wax away.
Or learn to learn your peachy fluff and leave it alone Smile

I waxed the hair on the sides of my face for a while and it grew back stronger and looked stubbly! It was awful. I then went for electrolysis and that was great.

Thanks for the replies - much appreciated! Jelly10 - does electrolysis hurt a lot and do you have ongoing sessions to keep things under control?

If you have a hormonal condition such as PCOS then waxing may stimulate more hair growth (isn't the case for everyone with PCOS). I get electrolysis and the results are great even with my stubborn, coarse facial hair. I go once every month but I have a LOT of facial hair - never seen anyone as hairy as me Blush

I've waxed my upper lip occasionally. It grows back the same - not darker or thicker.

I had weekly sessions for a couple of months before I got married and it didn't hurt at all. That pretty much sorted it out and I haven't needed any since.

I have similar downy hair and get it waxed monthly, if anything it's reduced in quantity since

sugarbeep9 · 21/05/2017 05:03

did not change the texture but bloody painful. I shave ny face a couple of times a week and I love it!
