Waterproof/smudgeproof mascara - any recommendations?

I am on a desperate search for a smudge proof mascara.
Can anyone recommend a good one? Don't mind spending a little bit more £££. Recently I've tried Maybelline, Clinique and Max Factor and find they all still smudge and I end up well on the way to panda eyes, which is not a good look!

I found the loreal one - that you paint on white first, then black, didn't smudge ... not sure if its waterproof though?

There is a product by Clarins that you apply over ordinary mascara and it makes it waterproof. I really like it as I love my Benefit mascara but my eyes often run a little. Bit of a devil to remove, but that's often the case with waterproof ones anyway. Perhaps worth a try if you already own a stash of mascaras!

BTW I don't find the Benefit one too smudgy on its own. I like Lancome ones too. I use the coating mostly if it is windy outside as my eyes like to stream and redistribute my make-up. Nice.

I guess waterproof doesn't matter (I won't be swimming with it on), but the smudging is the problem. Is smudgeproof a different thing?

I've come to the conclusion that it is not worth buying pricey mascara cos it goes off just as quickly as cheapo stuff. It all needs binning after 4 months regardless of £££.
I'm a terrible eye-rubber and always have panda eyes as a result. Just found Maybelline Sky High curves - waterproof version. This is the best I've ever tried - it does smudge but much less than most.
