Day time tops

I'm looking for some recommendations for everyday tops, 3/4 or full length sleeves. Decent quality, not needing a lot (any) of ironing and not too mumsy. I'm a size 12 with a mum tum but don't like anything too baggy. I'm not hugely keen on stripy tops either. What do you all wear everyday? I'm so bored with my wardrobe! I don't do anything too patterned. Definitely no Cath Kidston floweryness. Help me! Oh and I'm 39 so nothing too young and nothing too old/aging!

@fandabby I posted a Boden code upthread

auberginesrus · 12/05/2017 23:23

How long is the boden top on?

Cakescakescakes · 13/05/2017 00:25

This looks much better on than on the model and is cotton. Washes well too and not clingy. Generous in size I'd say.

If budget isn't a problem, then check out All Saints as they have gorgeous fluid draping cowl style tops and vests in great basic colours, white, grey, black etc.
Otherwise, Zara have gorgeous shirts and tops in at the mo. You're only 39 so step away from Boden!
Lace and ruffles are really in so maybe have a look at some of those type of styles to mix things up a bit.
As a general rule, for all of us with a bit of a tum, go for looser tops with skinny bottoms and some kick ass heels.

bingohandjob · 13/05/2017 15:56

I've got a couple of these in black, grey, white and navy. I love them. Simple, match with everything, great quality, wash well. Got the longer and shorter sleeve versions, too. www.uniqlo.com/uk/en/product/women-supima-cotton-crew-neck-34-sleeve-t-172266.html

Bumblebzz · 14/05/2017 14:58

@aubergine the Boden top is a good length on me, I'd say it sits on the hips. I'm quite long in the torso, but as it's quite fitted it should be ok lengthwise for most people. I.e. You can probably 'ruch' it up or down as required.

I looked at All Saints site and they do indeed have some lovely tops. Bit ££ so if anyone has a code please share!

fiorentina · 14/05/2017 20:53

Look at Cos for natural fabrics and some more stylish designs of tops that are easycare.

Lou256 · 14/05/2017 22:24

Cos have great interesting tops to wear with jeans and casual trousers!

Bumblebzz · 15/05/2017 06:22

Any examples you can point to from Cos please? I like the idea of good natural fabrics (I'm always checking labels these days).
I only went into Cos once ever and I must admit i didn't 'get it '. It seemed like lots of oversized and boxy stuff, not being stick thin I thought I would look ridiculous in any of their stuff

Dancergirl · 15/05/2017 09:57

Wouldn't recommend Zara, quality is terrible.

OP, try Baujken jersey tops. Plain fabric but cut well.

minipie · 15/05/2017 12:15

Watching with interest.

I would say Jigsaw and J crew for t shirt type tops but some seem to be prone to those little holes on the tummy. Others fine.

Anyone tried Wrap? There are some in their catalogue which look nice

dailystuck71 · 15/05/2017 13:07

I've ordered from Wrap before. I have better quality dish cloths.

fandabbydozier · 15/05/2017 20:28

Thanks all. Some nice things on Baukjen but quite pricey- does anyone have a code?

minipie · 15/05/2017 21:34

Grin thanks daily

fandabbydozier · 15/05/2017 21:35

Does anyone know what hush is like for quality?
How about Baukjen sizing? I'm a 12-14. Should I size up or down?

Just got this from Boden and it's great - fitted but not too tight, sleeves a good length. I would say it's cut slightly generously as I'm an 8-10 and 8 is definitely better in this top. I have yet to see how it wears (bit worried about the tummy hole problem as it's a slubby fabric but we'll see). I have the red and the navy and waiting for more colours in the post.

Dancergirl · 16/05/2017 12:21

fan try this code for 20% off at Baukjen - STYLE165

fandabbydozier · 16/05/2017 18:10

Thanks dancer, that code worked. I've ordered the white double layer top from boden and a couple of tops from Baukjen. It's free delivery 20% off both and free returns so let's see how I go.
Really not sure about Cos. There's a store near where I work and it looks like it only sells rectangle clothes. Perhaps I need to browse the racks a bit more but I always feel a bit daunted when I go in...
Still interested to hear what you make of Hush for tops.

I like the Cara top from Baukjen, might try it.
