I need to find an amazing dress for a wedding

So I'm attending the wedding of my wonderful friend over the summer. Can't wait! The stakes are going to be high, fashion wise. It's a festival wedding so don't want to be too formal.

I have a gorgeous dress that I bought in a vintage store in LA. It's cotton, a kinda tropical print in magenta, bright green, yellow and blue, with a wee bit of black through it. It's strapless, ties at the back, fitted to the waist with a full skirt to just below the knee. It'd be perfect, except I bought it 10 years ago when I was 22 and very skinny. It still fits, but my arms and shoulders are less slim and toned than when I last wore it, so I'm worried I might look a bit ridiculous in it.

Other options I'm considering are:

Any opinions would be very much appreciated. I've never struggled this much with finding a wedding outfit.

I'm 5' 9'', a size 10, extremely pale, so pale colours don't suit me. And I'm totally lost on this one. Help, please!

love the first asos one but dont know if it would be a bit much?

the reddy coloured asos one is nice too.

ur description of urself i think the last river island one would suit.

have u looked at free people dresses? have a lot on asos and they would fit your requirements too i think?

I've recently discovered an online dress company called Chi Chi which is really good for weddings

fabulous01 · 06/05/2017 21:11

I like the coloured one. But all nice to be honest

Gingerbreadmam · 06/05/2017 21:13

love this

BoldKitties · 06/05/2017 21:15

Thanks, Ginger. I love the first one but yes, think it might be a bit much. Re the reddy coloured ASOS, do you mean this one? I really like the last RI one. The only thing is, I have a large backpiece (tattoo) which always gets people asking about it when I display it. I once in a bar had about 6 people around me looking at it. So I'm a bit worried that the sheer back would display it too much. I don't want to be that gobshite at the wedding looking like I want all attention on me Confused.

Will have a look at Free People.

Thanks a mill Billy, will look at Chi Chi also.

yeah i love that one. id get blue shoes and bag.

Lucked · 06/05/2017 21:20

I like the Reiss one best followed by the first ASOS dress. I think the RI dresses look very cheap and poorly made.

Intransige · 06/05/2017 22:28

Something like this maybe?

Intransige · 06/05/2017 22:31

Or this?

BoldKitties · 06/05/2017 22:48

Oh Ginger, those shoes are fab. Though I don't do too well with barely theres. But I love them.

Hmm, you're right Lucked, RI dresses tend to be badly made. I had one where the fabric just fell apart the first time I wore it.

mumgoing, I can't open your link for some reason. What's the dress like?

Intransige, I love both of those. The first one is lovely but just not me, somehow. The second one is beautiful. I'm mad about the sleeve on it. Though I worry that the colour would wash me out a bit. When I say I'm pale, I mean really, really pale. Almost translucent Grin.

They are really short! Will you be freezing?

BoldKitties · 06/05/2017 23:43

Hopefully not, Noeuf. It'll be in the middle of summer so hopefully will be a nice warm day. But if it's not I have plenty of nice coats and capes that would be lovely over a dress. Though it will be mostly indoors anyway.

they ahd stilletos in same colour if any better.

SouthWestmom · 07/05/2017 14:49

Oh good as they are gorgeous and would be ruined by a thick pair of woolly black opaques!

I like the first one - it's really different

OCSockOrphanage · 07/05/2017 16:14

I'd get started on serious weight training!

hippadoppaloppagorillapig · 07/05/2017 17:30

1, 4, or 7 from the ones you posted. I'm loving both the ones that Intransige posted as well. I'm extremely pale as well and I think the green one would be fine on me. If you're worried, get a fake tan perhaps? The dress is too fab not to!

birdspooping · 07/05/2017 19:38

The last one (Topshop) gets my vote - it's beautiful! Would you consider getting a subtle spray tan for the day?

Intransige · 07/05/2017 19:46

Simple and elegant?
