Like the Hush ruched skirt but a pencil skirt?

I have been wearing my Hush ruched skirt with opaque tights all winter. It's too short to wear with bare legs now though.

Is there a similar skirt but more pencil skirt length? All the ones I have found have been thin and flimsy, I like the thickness of the Hush one as feels like my arse is not wobbling around too much!

The whistles tube skirt which everyone bangs on about here is excellent!

Chaby · 29/04/2017 06:26

Thanks will try that! I have a big arse and small waist so really struggle with getting skirts to fit but love wearing them.

Can't find the Whistles one in stock anywhere but will keep looking. Think I wanted a slightly longer one though.

baukjen have a lovely striped one in at the moment which is longer length but very stylish.

bigcheesematrix · 29/04/2017 07:13

There was a ruched skirt in Next which was below knee, it was more dark grey than black though. Exactly the same style as the Hush one. Not sure if it's still in store now, this was a couple of months ago.

Kettlewell do a longer length rushed skirt

ItsNiceItsDifferentItsUnusual · 29/04/2017 07:16

I'm also looking for this. Quite like this one from People Tree but not 100% sold on the drawstring waist.

Rinceoir · 29/04/2017 07:16

I got one in the white company last year but haven't seen another this year when I looked!

LardLizard · 29/04/2017 07:16

Oh could I have a link please to the original skirt please

Original skirt OP is talking about: www.hush-uk.com/m/womenswear/daywear/skirts/modal_ruched_skirt_1.htm

I've got this black ruched shirt from Boden in the long length and it goes to just under my knees. I'm 5ft 8. The stock seems a bit patchy just now though but they will probably get more soon as it's something they stock year after year.

LtGreggs · 29/04/2017 07:26

The Boden ruched skirt is longer - I've moved from the Hush to the Boden for spring! Boden seem to be out of stock a lot though - mine in black was at clearance price (£19 I think?) last year. But they do have lighter colours in.

LtGreggs · 29/04/2017 07:27

X-post - glad it was in agreement!

UndersecretaryofWhimsy · 29/04/2017 07:27

Isn't the Boden one pencil length? Mine certainly is.

LardLizard · 29/04/2017 07:30

Thank you big cheese
I never really wear skirts but wear dtresses alit but I do like that

AmethystRaven · 29/04/2017 07:39

I got a stretchy jersey pencil skirt from h&m last week and I love it. Not quite the same as the ruched ones but they're only £8.99 so maybe worth a look?

LexieSinclair · 29/04/2017 07:40

I've got the Boden one. What shoes does everyone wear with theirs?

UndersecretaryofWhimsy · 29/04/2017 08:37

I've been wearing tights and flat Chelsea boots with the boden one, and will switch to trainers and sandals as we get into bare leg season.

Floisme · 29/04/2017 09:39

I like the Mint Velvet one (Sorry - link will probably only take you to the home page but it's in 'Skirts') It's double layered with good sucking in properties. Quite long but there's a foldover kind of waistband so you can adjust. Not ruched but the double layer means you can get a ruched effect yourself.

Likewise Pure Collection - I've had one like this at least a couple of years and it's worn very well. Pricey but they usually have an offer knocking around.

The Kettlewell one comes in a good range of colours. The fabric's not quite as heavy as the other two but that might be better for summer.

Ellapaella · 29/04/2017 09:47

Lexie I have the Boden skirt. In summer I wear it with bear legs and sandals or T bar flats. In the winter I wear with tights and ankle boots.

SuperFlyHigh · 29/04/2017 10:08

Amethyst was going to say about the H&M ones, they are fab! Only got a grey one but will buy another one next time I see them.

They fit and sit really well, are comfy, and wash well too. In fact I prefer them to the similar Whistles skirt I have which I always find a bit tight and clingy.

Also look for pencil skirts on New Look website, they do a sort of light textured black one in mini and longer length.

SuperFlyHigh · 29/04/2017 10:09

The new look ones are not really stretchy but have a moveable material. Have to watch if they ride up. Wear with thicker opaques the shorter one.

Floisme · 29/04/2017 10:11

My H&M one went really saggy very quickly - and I say that as a big H&M fan. I guess that's their famous randomness at work.

SuperFlyHigh · 29/04/2017 10:42

For what to wear with it (my skirts) for work I wear patent black ballerinas (Accessorize) or faux reptile loafers (Jones Bootmaker). I do have some black tabbed suede ankle boots but they're not strictly Chelsea boots. Maybe I should buy some...
