what can I wear with this skirt?

it is a monsoon job, ankle length, straight, in red velvety material with a satin band at the bottom

have lost a couple of pounds & am still going with it as my 'goal' to get into it again

but dunno what to wear with it. Anything seems too much or too little for it.

you know, just to go out for meals and that

of an evening? something black, long sleeves, a simple but flattering cut for you... i like those sort of baggy slash neck type tops (no idea what you call them)...

sound likely ?

snowleopard · 12/03/2007 22:59

I'm thinking sleeveless (if you do sleeveless) or cap-sleeved floaty top, in a light fabric - maybe with an interesting print - maybe with some red in.

Cappuccino · 13/03/2007 09:49

oh I'm definitely not thinking sleeveless

I wondered about black but wondered if it was too predictable; then worried that I'd look like a circus if I attempted any colour with it

sassari your suggestion sounds nice except I have no idea what you mean

Something like this , or this ? Probably in a neutral colour, I think.

What shape are you, though?

sassari · 13/03/2007 11:40

actually yes, boith of those lovely. not exactly what i had in mind but close enough and i think would look great w the skirt... see, the shape is flattering and interesting while the colour is neutral. i think woull sit nicely w the strength of the red velvet and satin skirt.

plus, i like tops w a bit of intrisic bagginess in them to hide less than perfect figure underneath (but enough shape not to drown what figure you do have iyswim)

Hathor · 13/03/2007 12:06

Another black fitted top with sleeves
and a short sleeve one.
Try to match the satin trim with a satiny top? I think a simple black top best with some colour in the jewellery or scarf.

Cappuccino · 13/03/2007 12:37

god hather I do very much like that topshop one

hmm

like the ribbony jobs too

I think something like hather suggested. The first link. It would be nice if you could find something with the same red in.

Maybe a vest/capped sleeve top with a shrug?

sassari · 13/03/2007 12:41

dither! thats a great name for me.

dither · 13/03/2007 12:42

it is! hurrah.

dither · 13/03/2007 12:43

no, no colour in it. like hathor said, get some red in a scarf or jewellery.

this hathor is a bit of a clever one, isnt she?

MamaG · 13/03/2007 12:43

What about a penguin's head?

Although, obviously, you couldn't stand near me wearing it

JackieNo · 13/03/2007 12:45

You don't fancy a Bardot style top , do you? there's also a black one , but I don't like it as much.

I would have been PETRIFIED to be in that photo

MamaG · 13/03/2007 12:47

...and it was mean of you to make me look at it...

JackieNo · 13/03/2007 12:49

Or something slinky , or someone linked to this the other day, which looks lovely.

Cappuccino · 13/03/2007 12:59

MrsMills · 13/03/2007 13:13
