Friend's 50th, glam black tie party (might be back to discuss dresses) - I've been thinking what to buy her and I think I've decided on a pretty clutch bag.

Is that too personal? Odd? OK? Lovely?

She's a bit bohemian and likes bright colours. I thought this pink one was nice:

Comes in sparkly too:

Any thoughts?

Are there any friends you could club together with? For my 50th a group of friends clubbed together and bought me a Mulberry handbag rather than a number of cheaper items.

I'm just 50 and would rather have had the clutch than the champers!

There are two friends I could ask, yes. Bit tricky as they both have partners and I don't so the maths might be odd, but I can ask them. I was thinking about it.

I'm a bit surprised people have been given loads of clutch bags as presents in the past, I've never even heard of it as a gift. I have one small evening bag I've used once, never had a clutch bag. I'd quite like it if it was a bit of a special one, I know I'd rarely use it but gifts aren't for things you use every day, they're for things you wouldn't buy for yourself.

Depending on where you live, what about an annual membership for Picturehouse / Curzon (both include tickets), National Theatre / Old Vic (or your local theatre), Tate etc.

Thank you - I've bought gin! :)
