What do you make of this for a summer wedding outfit?

Opinions please? Summer wedding, but I don't have a shawl or jacket or whatever to go with it. I'd basically just bring a dark cardigan if it got cold.

Are you tall, skinny and willowy?
If so you may able to carry it off.

GiveMeTheTeaAndNobodyGetsHurt · 18/04/2017 17:55

I think it's gorgeous, but agree you'd need to be slim to suit that shape, especially the boxy top; if you're busty it'll look out of proportion. I don't think you necessarily need to be tall though; I wear maxi skirts all the time and I'm 5'3".

Stunning colours, too.

VladmirsPoutine · 18/04/2017 18:04

I'm tall and thin yes. I just wondered about the brightness of the dress, it it were in a blue or purple for example I wouldn't have questioned it. I just don't want to look like an orange Grin

I like it! Where's it from? I have a lot of weddings this summer!

Floorblob · 18/04/2017 19:07

I think it's the kind of dress that will look fabulous on someone who looks like that model and horrid on anyone else.

GiveMeTheTeaAndNobodyGetsHurt · 18/04/2017 19:50

It's a very soft shade of orange though. It's one of my favourite colours to wear actually, and is less in your face than red, which most people wouldn't bat an eyelid at.

As for a cardigan, I would wear a pale grey one to go with the top, or dark blue. Black really doesn't work with that colour.

happypoobum · 18/04/2017 19:50

Can you get a cotton or linen blazer rather than wear a dark cardi and spoil the lovely dress ?

lazycrazyhazy · 18/04/2017 19:53

What type of wedding? To me it's quite informal.

BackforGood · 18/04/2017 20:01

I'm with lazycrazyhazy.
Unless it's a sort of a beach wedding, or out in a field or something, I'd expect a jacket or sleeves on a dress, or at the very least, shoulders covered.

TheMasterNotMargarita · 18/04/2017 20:04

Love it.

VladmirsPoutine · 18/04/2017 20:07

It didn't occur to me that it would be informal but I would feel 'naked' without something extra to cover me iyswim? It's not an informal wedding from what I gather of the venue and the guest list but they're not European royalty Grin

give I agree black would be too harsh.

Beautiful. I'm jealous that you are able to wear that as it'd look absurd on me.

I think jacket rather than cardigan too

lazycrazyhazy · 18/04/2017 20:18

I was shocked at one or two outfits the young wore to my DD's church wedding, most looked lovely, loads of stunning hats and high heels (which they could walk in!) but there were one or two who IMO were inappropriate eg a playsuit which was not much longer than groin length with spaghetti straps, there was not much more to it than a swimsuit! I know when my DD went to a catholic wedding in Italy there was no admittance without covered shoulders and I was also brought up to believe this was disrespectful but I wouldn't think the outfit OP showed was inappropriate just not very weddingy. My DCS went to a lovely hippy vibe civil wedding in a field where that outfit would have been suitable. Tell us more OP!

Bluntness100 · 18/04/2017 20:21

That's really lovely. I'd do a wrap in the same colour as the top to go with it and wear it with flat sandals. I think a jacket would be too structured in comparison .

CheeseAtFourpence · 18/04/2017 20:26

Oh I love that - and would wear it in a heartbeat!

Asahai · 18/04/2017 22:10

Love it OP. Where's it from?

VladmirsPoutine · 18/04/2017 22:12

Asos.

Agree with bluntness that a wrap would suit it. It's gorgeous & also comfortable for a wedding. (Sold out in my size - sniff sniff!)
