Designer handbag thread. Warning; Not for the faint hearted

This is has been inspired by the 'How to look expensive thread' and I've seen a couple other specific threads and thought 'why not?'. This can be a place to share our wish lists or ask about prices if someone doesn't have a certain store near them etc. Or just be handbag porn !

I know handbags always cause controversy but I think we can all agree to live and let others live. This is a DESIGNER HANDBAG thread - please do not read further if it offends you.

I'll start. I am LOVING the Dior Diorama and have decided ,if all goes according to plan, to treat myself before the year endsSmile.
Also loving the Louis Vuitton Palm Springs mini. Does anyone have either?

Anyone up for the thread ??

Why are people scared to talk about it? I e heard this before.

Spice22 · 12/04/2017 12:12

cakes often when someone asks for advice on a bag costing £1k+ they get told they are wasting money that could be spent on a bench or feeding children. But I'm hoping this thread will just be one for admiration and inspiration.

I'm in provided naysayers head your eloquently worded warnings.

Currently can't make up my mind between a Proenza Schoulder PS11, a Marni Trunk or JW Anderson Logo Purse. I'm hankering after a bright colour. Although I always keep circling back to a Givenchy Pandora (the messenger in small) but am always on the lookout for a special colour or finish that I've yet to come across. Also saw some nice pieces from the runway but have yet to see pop up for sale yet.

I'm personally not a big fan of logo bags so only ever interested in the Epi and Sofia Coppola styles LV offer but I'm loving the look of the Dior Diorama, I'm loving what Maria Grazia Chiuri is doing with Dior in general and it was high time their bag offerings appealed to more than just the Japanese market.

I'm also in need of selling off some bags, I never buy second hand but do sell on now and then. I'm finding Vestiaire Collective not as quick moving as it used to be, if anyone has found better avenues would love to hear about them (am not in the UK though).

Baconbinge · 12/04/2017 12:18

The bag i lust after all the time is the Celine mini belt bag.

It's is £1550 and i have never spent that amount of money on a handbag, although i do plan to one day when i can justify it to myself Grin

I'm loving my Gucci Soho Disco in black at the moment, it is so easy.
I want a neverful in the GM for the summer

brickinitIam · 12/04/2017 12:20

I will be watching this with interest. I have birthday money to spend. The item would have to be on sale though.

CakesAreBiscuitsToo · 12/04/2017 12:27

Haha Spice22 that's great. Nothing like sanctimony, is there. Enjoy your handbags one and all.

WhooooAmI24601 · 12/04/2017 12:27

I bought myself a Neverful MM in the Damier Azure recently because DS2 was sick on my previous one. I've not used it til this week (Easter holidays so don't tend to use it for school; navy Bayswater is the only one I risk using there as it's invincible). It's lovely but I wish I'd held off and saved extra for the Palm Springs as I'd probably get more use from it.

Spice22 · 12/04/2017 12:40

Ooh brick what's the budget? Philip Lim does great bags - The Pashli looks great at about £600.

whoo sick on ur LV. ??

I can no longer afford designer bags and was a Mulberry fan but loving the chance to ogle bags

I am living vicariously through your thread!

CountessYgritte · 12/04/2017 13:33

Can we have more pics please Grin

WhooooAmI24601 · 12/04/2017 14:46

Spice yep, sat on a plane just after eating supper, he hiccups, burps and throws up all over my bag (which was on the floor, stupidly). The non-puking Whoooochild was my favourite for many, many days afterwards.

Ponks · 12/04/2017 15:01

Love the Celine mini belt bag!

Bristol01 · 12/04/2017 15:41

LOVE Mulberry bags too! But also just can't really justify spending that kind of money on a handbag anymore....
I've posted this a few times already (sorry to repeat), but I can really recommend Gusti Leather - They do really nice genuine leather bags and small bits and bobs.

ZaraW · 12/04/2017 15:45

I just bought a metallic Izzy Miyake Bao Bao bag.

Spice22 · 12/04/2017 15:54

Does anyone have the Diorama or the Palm Springs?

Bacon I love the beltbag - it's a very chic and classic bag that will never get out of fashion. I think it is worth the investment !

I can't seem to get with Mulberry (I know MN raves about it but it really does nothing for me). The new Bayswater is nice but...

I dicked about wanting a Bottega Veneta ( second hand admittedly but it was still over a grand) but in the end went for a Mulberry Lily in red. I wish I'd gone for the BV now; the Lily is lovely but things tend to fall out once the flap is open which is Really Fucking Annoying.

LadyOfTheCanyon · 12/04/2017 16:02

Also bought a See by Chloe Hana in navy and a green turnlock hobo from Coach in the sale. A couple of Lulu Guinness found in TKMaxx and a DKNY tote for work and I've now got all bases covered and have chucked out all my shit old bags and resolved never to buy cheap again.

Baconbinge · 12/04/2017 16:03

That's what i love about it Spice, it's a timeless classic that i could have for years. I think, like you, i may have to treat myself before the year ends.

Fucktifyno · 12/04/2017 16:03

I LOVE Smythson bags, in fact not just the bags... all the accessories!
I wouldn't say no to any of these!

You ladies seem like the right people to ask! Has anyone been to the mulberry outlet at Bicester? Or York? Would I be able to get a decent size (aka not a clutch but something I could use most days) bag for under £400? Thanks in advance!
