Anyone else always feel scruffy?

No matter what I wear I always feel scruffy, if someone else put my clothes on they would look fine, but I am sure I look terrible, even new clothes, the first few times I feel fine, then I think I just rough and ready, anyone else have this problem?

always! no matter what I wear I feel it scruffy-fies as soon as I am in the company of others - no matter how good it looks indoors by myself!

A good haircut is key to not feeling scruffy.

I am overdue a haircut.

me too. and my husband says im dowdy cos i wear the same clothes all the time. i go to look for mew clothes and i see loads of thing i like but then think that i will just look too stupid/fat etc in them.

deaconblue · 09/03/2007 14:21

me too. Now I'm a SAHM I only seem to wear my scruffy stuff. Need to get a grip. Even when I go out I don't seem to have enough time to do hair and make up properly so still feel srcuffy. Ds rubbing grubby fingers on me all day doesn't help

deaconblue · 09/03/2007 14:22

Sad thing is in my mind I still look a bit foxy like I did when I met dh. Look in the mirror and I see eyebags, wobbly belly, and scruffy clothes

AnAngelWithin · 09/03/2007 14:22

last time i wore make up was about 8 years ago.

deaconblue · 09/03/2007 14:23

now my mum reckons when we were small she found time to do perfect make up every day, do all washing in silly twin tub thing and still look glam for my dad's return in evening. Grrrrr

AnAngelWithin · 09/03/2007 14:24

yeah right!

becklespeckle · 09/03/2007 15:26

don't have time for a good haircut often, and when I do I don't have time to style it properly. DH says he gets fed up of seeing me in jeans and ponytail

becklespeckle · 09/03/2007 15:26

wore a skirt the other day and he didn't even notice until I took it off!

KathyMCMLXXII · 09/03/2007 15:34

God, yes, totally.
Need a haircut badly.
Sometimes I make a huge, enormous effort and get discouraged because I feel like if I try as hard as I can I still only just about end up looking nearly as smart as everyone else.

becklespeckle · 09/03/2007 15:38

last haircut was in November I think, quite a short style so looks a bit rough now! have got appt booked on Tues but DS1 came out with chicken pox today so will have to re-schedule!

marymoocow · 09/03/2007 15:44

well i had my haircut today, for the first time since October i should think. Bet dh still doesn't notice though

me too FioFio! recently bought nice skirt to go with nice boots - feel like people are staring at me - even had comments 'ooh, you're looking smart today' - bet they're thinking 'makes a change!'

SoMuchToBits · 09/03/2007 15:51

I quite often wear skirts and a nice coat etc, even for everyday, because I never seem to go anywhere "special" so otherwise they never get worn. Today I was wearing a skirt (fairly casual long denim one), boots, nice coat with coordinating hat and scarf, and the man selling the Big Issue in the town centre actually said "That's a nice outfit you've got on". It made me feel loads better about myself, even though I hadn't bothered with makeup etc.But some days I can't be bothered at all and end up wearing the same sort of thing for days on end.

mamama · 09/03/2007 15:54

Oh, I have this problem too. No matter how lovely the clothes are when I buy them, within a week or two, they seem old fashioned, worn out and scruffy.

And, I had my hair done a couple of weeks ago, and that didn't help!
