White trousers

I am finding myself strangely drawn to white trousers. Should I step away from the catalogue now?

Possibly - what size are you? And what sort/shape of trousers are they? Possibly something that you could get away with more in the summer?

MrsBadger · 09/03/2007 12:40

white linen acceptable for elegant summer wear - esp good for casual weddings with floaty tunic top - but they will only stay clean for approx 1hr40min.
white jeans acceptable if you are slim and tanned and very stylish already, also possibly Italian

Otherwise I counsel caution.

WaynettaSlob · 09/03/2007 12:40

Depends what type they are - if they are linen summery ones, then fine go for it. Anything else, then unless they are/look expensive then AVOID AT ALL COSTS.

mamma2kids · 12/03/2007 12:39

Thanks girls.
They are white cotton straight leg (I am short and scrawny, usually pale and not Italian or particularly stylish unfortunately). In the catalogue they are being worn by a (possibly italian) model with a smart tunic top. I was hoping to wear the whole ensamble (with some wedges) for a Sept wedding. Too risky?

Hmm - can you link? What catalogue is it?

CODalmighty · 12/03/2007 12:41

ye si love white trouser
have htre pairs
i am the slizabeth hurley of south wilthure

MrsBadger · 12/03/2007 12:42

Remember a UK wedding in Sept may mean cold and rainy...
I'd only do them in real high summer, probably abroad.

kookaburra · 12/03/2007 12:59

IME you need a catalogue life if you are going to wear white troures. Or @ least stick to champagne and no food and kids with 24/7 nanny - presume that is how LH & cod manage?
Was put off them (look away if squeamish) when a maths teacher @ my school wore them on the - ahem - wrong day of the month and was rememberd at every reuinion for ever afterwards for that reason.

noddyholder · 12/03/2007 13:00

Love them Have all kinds from loose linen to skinny jeans

mamma2kids · 12/03/2007 13:02

La Redoute catalogue. Can't link as don't know how. Purple print tunic with wh trousers.Catalogue is French and always sunny in pictures. Feeling doubtful now. Always do this with catalogues. Also wedding may include grass (mud) and will definately include grubby toddlers (mine). May rethink. COD what do you wear yours with (white trousers not grubby toddlers)?

loads

anything!

ScottishThistle · 12/03/2007 13:39

I wouldn't wear white trousers to a UK wedding in September & a HUGE no-no if you'll be accompanied by little ones with grubby fingers as you'll feel smart for about an hour tops!

DarrellRivers · 12/03/2007 13:41

I have lovely wide legged pair which i wear with wedges in the summer, which were cheap but they look expensive, and the main thing is they are machine washable, as usually after wearing them a few hours , you can see what me and my family have eaten on them , plus all our activities.
I am short, but these look good
White trousers look expensive and like La Hurley we expensive lifestyles to keep up

JackieNo · 12/03/2007 13:42

But they only look expensive if they're not grubby.

DarrellRivers · 12/03/2007 13:43

Don't let the little ones eat anything brown, actually anything coloured and you'll be fine

womblingalong · 12/03/2007 13:43

Word of advice,

If you do the white trousers thing, esp thin cotton or linen, DO NOT wear them with white knickers/thong, it always draws too much attention to your bum, IMHO: flesh coloured shorts are the best way to go

MrsBadger · 12/03/2007 13:44

and wear fleshcoloured cycling-shorts type pants

have we put you off yet?

Tutter · 12/03/2007 13:45

arf at "otherwise i counsel caution"

v good mrsbee

KTeePee · 12/03/2007 13:50

I bought some last summer (advised by cod and others I think for special night out). I wore them quite a bit afterwrds but generally not with kids in tow.... I would say no if you have toddlers with you on the day.

fryalot · 12/03/2007 13:52

mamma3kids:

White trousers lovely. White trousers with small grubby handprint design.... not so.

fryalot · 12/03/2007 13:52

sorry, finger slipped, am giving you an extra child

womblingalong · 12/03/2007 14:00

Noooo Mrs B - cycling shorts not necessary, just boy shorts!!

Still don't think white trousers are easy to wear for everyone, as the Badge says, caution advised.

mamma2kids · 15/03/2007 12:56

Thanks guys (except for the extra child). I really hadn't thought about the knicker thing. I think its definately a decision between the trousers or the toddlers at this wedding. If the trousers look good, I might farm out the toddlers!
Either way I think I need a plan B.
