If you are 5 foot 3 and under, what casual shoes do you wear?

I feel too frumpy and stumpy in completely flat shoes. Autumn and winter are sorted with boots with various heel heights but would really like recommendation for comfy yet stylish shoes that aren't completely flat for spring and summer

Not much help as I do mainly wear flat shoes (am 5'3), but tend to go for things with a very slightly chunkier sole (so, e.g., NB trainers, or Boden trainers, both of which have a thick sole, rather than converse - which are very flat, and Fitflops rather than completely flat flip flops). I can't cope with actual heels though so am no use on this front!

Skater shoes with an inch sole in funky colours/ designs

It sounds as if you think heels are a burden you must bear for being short - that heels are not a choice one would make if one were over 5'4, but that you are obliged to wear them in order to reach an acceptable height.

rightknockered · 08/04/2017 20:05

I'm 5 ft 5 and also feel slightly frumpy in completely flat shoes. I find I wear trainers. I'm on the look out for some wedge heels that don't look too awful. I quite like the flatform sandals I've seen online.

hugoagogo · 08/04/2017 20:09

I only ever wear flat shoes and I am much shorter than you.

hazeyjane · 08/04/2017 20:15

I'm 4'11" and live in Art boots, converse and birkenstocks. The highest heel I've got is a pair chonky tank girl style boots with a 2 inch platform heel (I just tried them on with a dress for a wedding tomorrow, and my dds said, 'ooh mum, your so tall!!)

Afreshstartplease · 08/04/2017 20:17

I live in flats! Converse , uggs, ballet pumps

Trills · 08/04/2017 20:20

I think you might have got more of a useful response if you'd asked for recommendations for non-flat casual shoes, rather than putting a height limit on your respondents.

Think of all those average-height women who have wonderful shoe recommendations for you but just clicked past.

imjessie · 08/04/2017 21:29

I'm 5 ft And always wear flat shoes , I do find a plain slip on pump is more flattering than anything with laces though .!

lalaloopyhead · 08/04/2017 21:37

I always struggled with flat shoes as I am such a short arse with dumpy legs. I have just got a pair of silver platform plimsoles and they look fine as long I turn my jeans up so they don't meet.

Pagerty · 08/04/2017 21:38

I'm 5'2" and live in converse, Toms and flip flops in the summer so no help at all. Sorry.

HeadDreamer · 08/04/2017 21:42

I am 5 foot 3 and live in flats.

NapQueen · 08/04/2017 21:43

5'2 and always in flats too.

MoreProseccoNow · 08/04/2017 21:47

I love my Converse Lux - they have a small wedge heel.

Hush puppy sandals - again with a wedge heel.

Clark's boots in the winter, either with block heel or wedge. Clark's work shoes too, I find the Bryn Poppy really comfortable.

I never wear flats, except slippers.

OwlOfBrown · 08/04/2017 21:48

5'2" and live in converse and ballet flats.

museumum · 08/04/2017 21:53

5'2" and wear flats. Sorry. TBH I could never wear more than an inch or two at most and I'd still be short but just have sore feet too so what's the point?

Mominatrix · 08/04/2017 22:01

5ft 2in and I wear a variety of heights.

Flat shoes are superga flatforms, Church's brogues and loafers, Tod's loafers, or running shoes (for running only). I can't wear completely flat shoes so no classic Converse and ballerinas only if they have a heel.

PrimalChic · 08/04/2017 22:23

5'2". Also live in flats as I'm a SAHM to young children who like to bolt.

Ballet pumps in a flesh colour, they go with most things and make my legs look longer than a contrasting colour does.

Flats with a pointed toe

Nothing that has a high ankle strap, no matter the fashion.

I used to wear heals all the time until my husband told me he hadn't noticed I'd switched to flats after an evening of walking in high heels. Now I wear them only when I know I can get a cab.

herecomesthsun · 09/04/2017 08:48

I am 5ft 9 and like the look of flatforms. I like flats for comfort but feel my (relatively shortish) legs look a lot better with an extra inch of height, and completely flat shoes are not so comfortable.

Greenvalleymama · 09/04/2017 11:27

I like a small block heel on my sandals, I have these at the from last year

Looks like they've been discontinued but there are some in a similar style
