Can anybody find me a sturdy vanity case for a 12yr old girl?

Looking for a vanity case for DD who was 12 at Christmas. I want something sturdy rather than soft like a makeup bag. But I don't want it cheap looking like the metal cornered make up cases you can buy. Ideally wooden, leather or very stiff card with a pretty clasp. Large enough for her brush and all her 100s of hair accessories. It doesn't need to be particularly portable as it's more to sit on her dresser than to take away on trips.

I have searched high and low and cannot find anything do I'm wondering if such a thing exists or only in my head. In my head it will open on hinges and have some sort of upper compartment which lifts out if that makes sense. Thanks

Try Primark, Avon, House of Fraser, even try charity shops you might get lucky

Ebay might be worth a look and Etsy as well. Sounds like a large jewellery box might fit the bill.

ImperialBlether · 07/04/2017 21:16

Is this the kind of thing you want?

Splinters6 · 07/04/2017 21:22

Thanks, Coolcarrie, I've tried most of those.

Imperial, yes that's pretty much what I want but not quite so squishy iykwim.

Thanks both.

Something like this?

ImperialBlether · 07/04/2017 21:28

Oh that looks good, slug!

Splinters6 · 07/04/2017 22:18

Something like this I guess

That has a terrible review, though.

Splinters6 · 07/04/2017 22:22

Sorry, the start of my post disappeared. I meant to say thank you, Slug. That looks really practical but a little too industrial looking I think to sit on top of her dressing table.

What about something like this?

ImperialBlether · 07/04/2017 22:23

Not this then?

Splinters6 · 07/04/2017 22:24

Yeah, bad review and unavailable but that's the sort of thing I have in mine. So that but better made and actually available to buy! Grin

No to the Tatty Devine one but thank you, AndNone.

Imperial, thanks, that one might be a goer. Smile

B and m have some nice boxes with various sized drawers too for about a tenner. Ive got hairbrushes, make up and skincare in one, fab

TuftyFinchy · 07/04/2017 22:41

I got my DD a similar one to the one you linked to from TK Maxx, it has a 'shelf' that sits in the top, once it's opened. She keeps all her hair clips and bits and bobs in it. I bought it ages ago but I've seen them there recently.

Splinters6 · 07/04/2017 23:01

Thanks everyone.
