MrsBadger · 08/03/2007 22:16

um, well,
[wipes tear elegantly away]
I'd like to thank my mum for consistently dressing like Mummy from the original Topsy and Tim during my formative years and hence allowing me to discover actual clothes for myself in my 20s.

And you all for believing in me!
[sobs convulsively yet elegantly]

FrannyandZooey · 08/03/2007 22:27

the mother from Topsy and Tim is my role model

I think she looks FAB

MrsBadger · 08/03/2007 22:31

One day I too will wear gloves when it's not cold...

FrannyandZooey · 08/03/2007 22:33

Oh

I will picture you that way from now on

hunkermunker · 08/03/2007 22:34

Can I just be the hopeless customer who makes you all roll your eyes and tut?

None of you saw my thread re shoes, did you? I shall link it.

Ceolas · 08/03/2007 22:34

Will there be a special maternity style shop in your term of office then?

FrannyandZooey · 08/03/2007 22:35

Btw MrsB while we are at it what should I be doing about all these tunicky numbers? and what is this thing of wearing coloured tights with different coloured shoes and can I get away with it????

hunkermunker · 08/03/2007 22:35

Be gentle with me...

hunkermunker · 08/03/2007 22:38

While I'm in the shop, please can you tell me if this is nice?

hunkermunker · 08/03/2007 22:39

And STOP rolling your eyes. I can see you!

FrannyandZooey · 08/03/2007 22:40
FrannyandZooey · 08/03/2007 22:41

Hunker it was the pattern that made my eyes do that

hunkermunker · 09/03/2007 01:04

Don't you like it then?

filthymindedvixen · 09/03/2007 09:36

I like it (but I am a disgusting old hippy) so that's probably not a Good Thing....

MrsBadger · 09/03/2007 09:46

[wafts in in perfectly-coordinated ensemble and subtle yet striking accessories]

Franny - have you embraced skinny jeans yet? As a woman of the small bottom persuasion you may find them remarkably flattering and they're great with tunics. Depending on the length I'd go really carefully on leggings with tunics as they can make slender legs positively matchsticky, but a chunky knitted sweater-dress type tunic could work really well with them.

I can't remember how norkularly gifted you are, but unless you are remarkably small try and avoid ones that are gathered on the bustline or there is a real risk of looking not only pregnant but also 70s in a bad way - gathers under the bustline often much more flattering.

For the generously norked (I know it's not you but am thinking of My Public ) look for ones with a low neck to avoid Hattie Jacques-style Matron Bosom.

Hunker, the top is a v nice shape but a little bit mad - it's the combination of the pattern and the ruching I think. Could be striking with plain brown trous / skirt though, and would look fab peeking from a plain suit / jacket / cardi etc.

Off to check your shoe thread now...

filthymindedvixen · 09/03/2007 09:49

Ohhhhhh She's Gooooood. She's Stylish. AND quite tactful!!!

(desperately brushes mud off knees and attempts to enter the shop)

FrannyandZooey · 09/03/2007 09:56

MrsB, you will no doubt recall as you refer to your filing cards, that I am a size larger on top than bottom (size of rib cage rather than breasts), so when I wear skinny jeans that makes it look worse

also having the gathers just below breasts on me, means that the tight bit is at the widest part of my body (rib cage) and it looks quite fearful

so I have been doing the above nork gathers and probably do look pregnant AND seventies (I feel like a Railway Child though which is marvellous )

I have been wearing with boyf jeans or another short dress underneath though, as agree about the skinny legs / legging thing. Is this ok? Is there another way I can wear them?

FrannyandZooey · 09/03/2007 09:57

Checked links - yup it is the first sort that I am wearing (am pretty flat chested) and the second sort look dreadful on me

FMF she is FAB isn't she?

MrsBadger · 09/03/2007 09:58

she's also gasping for a coffee...
where are those layabout assistants?...
