Brogues

Anyone got any ideas for flat, comfortable but work appropriate brogues?

I have wide feet so a pointier toe is impossible and I take ages to wear in shoes. With a lot of time spent on my feet I just can't cope in heels and it's getting a bit late in the year for my trusty flat winter boots.

The seasalt soles are fine, but their shoes are, I find, very narrow.

Another big fan of Clark's hamble oaks - I've got them in patent oxblood, pewter metallic, blue suede and tan. I often walk for up to an hour at a time in them and they are still comfy.

Love my Hamble Oaks - I have a variety of colours and a pink suede version for summer.

I have black patent brogues from Clarks that are really comfy that I wear for work. I'm a half size and they are in a half-size so fit great. I also have quite wide feet and they fit fine. Got them in a sale as well so a great price.

Another Hamble Oak sheep! Very comfy sole and not at all narrow. I have them in the metallic pewter.

There was a gold metallic version out this winter which I was obsessed with but I chickened out in the end. It's sold out now everywhere but Sarenza.co.uk. They're beautiful!

No thank you knowler. I have thin feet but wide toes, so narrow shoes are no good and so are wide ones. I might try them and see…

knowler · 30/03/2017 15:47

Try them - they're nice shoes. And I do have very big inelegant feet!!

I have never seen so many people agree! Thank you everyone. I think I will get the grey gamble oaks tomorrow when I've been paid!

Are they easy to wear in?

I wore mine with socks for a while and now I wear pop socks! I'm a bit old fashioned as I hate bare feet in shoes!

ElspethFlashman · 30/03/2017 17:21

Mine were fine from day one. Maybe a bit rubby at the ankle but didn't break the skin or anything. I wore thick socks too the first week, even though it meant I had to wear very long jeans to cover them. I really can't get away with the bunched socks + brogues look. Too gamine for a 40 something! I wear with trainer socks now or tights.

I really really want a light coloured pair now. The white ones look awesome with bare ankles but I don't think I'm cool enough to match an outfit to them. Blush

BusterGonad · 30/03/2017 17:28

I was traveling and my trainers got wet and stunk so I had no choice but to wear mine, hence the socks. 2 weeks in just Clarks brogues!

ElspethFlashman · 30/03/2017 17:39

Buster what are the gold ones like? Are you finding them easy to dress with? I struggle to match outfits to the pewter ones I have to admit. They are insanely shiny. Like wearing two light bulbs on your feet! They demand a bit of forethought.

BusterGonad · 30/03/2017 19:08

I wear mine with everything, today with black jeans and a black and floral lace top, I've worn them out drinking with a black ditsy floral lace dress, I find they look their best with florals but that could just be me! I have black patent ones too.

tigerdriverII · 30/03/2017 22:08

I've got silver ones from Office and wear them all the time. They just fit. Or they definitely don't! It's quite easy

KittyOShea · 06/04/2017 19:07

My lovely new grey gamble oaks!

Thanks everyone!

They look good OP - mod pic?

maybebebe how do you find the Church's brogues fit? I keep seeing them on EBay and would love to try a pair but I have heard the sizing is really weird.
