Hello! I desperately need to get my eyebrows done, been doing them myself for a long time, they are now bushy and weird... also my hair hasn't been cut in about 18 months, I really need a restyle, would love a friendly hairdresser who can advise me what would suit me and do a sort of 'indie' haircut.... please give me any recommendations!! Wink

Paige at Paige Connor Hairdressing.

Robbie at Arthaus on broughton street for hair. I've only had my eyebrows threaded in Debenhams and it was nice but I get ingrown hairs from threading so haven't been back.

I think you can't go wrong at Cheynes. What side of town are you at? Hamptons at Morningside is also good.

user1486161908 · 23/03/2017 10:21

Thanks for replies. I don't live in Edinburgh but go every few weeks, so location doesn't matter. I don't think I want eyebrows threaded, more the waxing route I think, they always look odd growing back after threading, very dark fast growing hair..

I should have said, definitely not Cheynes, I had the worst haircut of my life in their Lothian Road branch, short back and sides instead of a bob... Shock

Oh god not Cheynes, the Ryanair of hairdressing.

All the stylists at Hothead (opposite the Peartree) are great, and all 'indie' types themselves. Plus, free Tunnocks Caramel Wafers!

Nospringflower · 23/03/2017 13:12

I didn't know folk hated Cheynes! Hothead looks great and cheap!

Nospringflower · 23/03/2017 13:14

Although I have realised I am really old as I don't know what an Indie haircut looks like Confused

Cheyens are dreadful. Charlie Miller is where you want to be. South St Andrews Street and preferably with Ian but it depends on budget as he's pretty expensive.

Sorrry don't know about brows but there is a brow bar in Harvey Nics.

I like Austen Thompson in Leith for hair. I get my eyebrows threaded so not sure about waxing but there's tons of places on Leith Walk.

I loved Cheynes when I used to go. Never had a bad cut no matter who I got. It just got too dear. I am old though!

Colourmylife1 · 23/03/2017 18:40

I second Austin Thomson. He's a genius with colour too. Benefit in John Lewis are not bad for eyebrow waxing.

bakedbeansandtuna · 23/03/2017 18:45

Went to cheynes George street years ago. Asked for light brown and blonde hi/lo lights.

Got jet black.

Charlie Miller: asked for roots re-bleached. Put bleach on already bleached bits.... 🤔

I avoid colouring now and only ever go for a basic trip. I have my to do guy in Leeds these days.

TooExtraImmatureCheddar · 23/03/2017 19:16

Scott at Muse in Leith is good - especially at colour, if you want that. He's pretty good at helping you decide what you want, too.

TooExtraImmatureCheddar · 23/03/2017 19:16

I also liked the cut I got at Medusa in the Grassmarket.

TooExtraImmatureCheddar · 23/03/2017 19:17

Oh, yes, I had my brows done at the Benefit brow bar and liked them!

user1486161908 · 24/03/2017 21:04

Thanks for replies, looks like the Benefit Brow Bar is the way to go for the eyebrows! Anybody know if I have to book? And how much it is?Will look into some of the hair options and prices over the weekend. Smile
