Next summer linen blend dresses

I have just bought two from Next and thought I'd write a little recommendation to anyone who was after one!

I bought this

navy

which I am keeping-it's lovely. Just above the knee (I'm 5 3) so I'm glad I didn't get the petite! Sizing is generous, so I sized down which fits perfectly. It's very flattering-lovely sleeves and no need to wear anything underneath. It also has POCKETS which is very exciting!

I also bought this

yellow

which I really love. Again-I sized down. It's knee length and very pretty (though no pockets) but it's rather see-through :( I could wear a vest underneath it, but that sort of defeats the object of a summery dress, so sadly it is going back.

HTH someone looking for something for the summer!

I bought a blue floral linen blend one last year. It has been excellent and washed well. A winner from Next IMO.

Next is such a weird shop. Loads of dross but just got some fab bikinis there and they currrently have a gorgeous pink tailored jacket I'm lusting after but cant bring myself to buy at £70

Iamastonished · 02/04/2017 09:32

I must admit that there is nothing in their shop that I am interested in at the moment. It looks like cheap tat. It's not surprising that their profits are falling.

I have just bought a navy linen dress from Next thanks to this thread! I have the problem that I am quite petite, and the dress is quite voluminous on me (can't size down as it is size 6). I think I'll keep it because it looks ok, but would like to wear it with a thin belt to pull the waist in a bit - can anyone recommend a belt that might go?

Wtfdoicare · 03/04/2017 15:01

Also what shoes would go with it? I barely ever wear dresses!

NevermetaGilesIlike · 03/04/2017 15:05

I have seen a few bits that look better in real life than they appear online and the material was better than previous seasons IMO. I started a thread here about a khaki jacket I have just bought. Best thing I have got in ages and works with black.

With respect to the dress I think white plimsoles or tan thong sandals would work. I had a look at it and the length is all wrong for me but it is a good cut for apples.

Has anybody pear shaped bought it? I'm pregnant so I'd be totally guessing my summer size, but I am a pear. I was a standard 12 post pregnancy so thinking maybe a 12 would be safe??

I bought a couple last year and they were generously sized and I lived in them when the sun actually shone!

Iamastonished · 05/04/2017 18:54

I am pear shaped, and in my experience, Next don't cater very well for pears. I bought last year's linen dress, but had to size up and then sow the seams in a bit near my non existent bust.

WineCheeseSleep · 11/04/2017 21:16

Thanks for the tip on this, I bought the navy one thanks to this thread and the email and I love it. I'm definitely a size 14 usually but the 12 fit perfectly which makes it even better! It's going to be a great dress for the summer - flattering, cool and flexible.

Have not read full thread but I bought the navy linen blend dress from Next in the OP. Haven't bought anything from next in years and to be truthful I thought it was tatty cheap clothing.. how wrong I was! I had a bit of a summer spend up and that dress in particular I am so impressed with. I've just been on holiday and actually wore it to the beach, it didn't creass up like linen normally does, I threw it in my beach bag and shook it out and put it on, coupled with a nice necklace and sparkly shoes could have easily gone out to dinner in it. Bargain price too.. I might got out and get it in other colours..

I just bought the black one on the strength of the Swears By email/ this thread. Worn it for the first time today. So impressed, have ordered it in navy for work and pink/white for a forthcoming wedding (I have rationalised this as either/or but, fuck it, if they're both good then for £24 apiece I might keep both). And bought a spare black version too whilst I'm at it. Blush

This is deffo my new go-to work dress. Smart, comfy, can dress up or down. And: POCKETS!!
