Still looking for really comfortable 'trainer-esque' shoes for a city break. Have tried hundreds of pairs on, and disliked nearly everything. Of those I've liked, most of them have been too wide (I have small and narrow feet).

I don't give a fig if I look 'stylish' or not, but nor do I have any intention of wearing any of the horrors that Skechers sell.

I like these:

Geox white

Clarks nude or silver

Clarks pink

I also liked white leather Superga, but they were too wide and suede Puma and Adidas Gazelles, ditto.

Update - the Geox have just arrived and I love them! They are really comfortable and even look good with opaques and a skirt, astonishingly. They are not glaringly white, more like a really, really pale grey - and they come with a pair of white laces too! Thanks for the help!

I was going to say that I bought some Geox years ago and they are still going strong. Super comfortable. Glad you like them!

Lovely! Glad you're happy with them Remus. Any chance of a photo?

I'd happily post a photo except I am a Luddite and currently have no technology to do so.

Yay! They sound good.

Thanks, all. I'll try them on with various things and report back again. Currently I'm sporting them with the skirt I wore for work - black, full, midi length and black opaques - I probably wouldn't wear that in public, as it could well be bordering into (or far over the line into)) crazy cat lady territory. I reckon a tube skirt with or without opaques will work though, jeans in various lengths obviously, and maybe even slouchy wide legged trousers.

And full or pleated midi skirts with bare legs will probably work too, I hope.
