I wanted Air and Grace glitter trainers

But DH bought me white sequinned Converse high-tops as a surprise treat.
Can I wear them? If so, how? I don't want to be an ungrateful mare and leave them at the bottom of the wardrobe until such time as I can decently shunt them off to the charity shop.

I would wear them, but I'm a bit of a converse junkie.

BounceBounceSplishSplash · 14/03/2017 13:34

If it is the above ones, you'll look like a bit of a walking disco ball imo. Sorry Blush Has he still got the receipt?

AspasiaFitzgibbon · 14/03/2017 13:49

Returning them isn't an option as it would upset him too much. Don't mind the glitterball issues - it's more that I'm not really a high-top person.
How to style them?

They are quite different from the ones you wanted, though! Can you return them?

KickAssAngel · 14/03/2017 13:52

What do you normally wear? i love high tops, personally. If you have faded boyfriend jeans, you can roll them up. You can wear skinny jeans with them. Also, thick tights and a short skirt.

How about something like this?

I don't usually like converse but I think they're really nice - my inner magpie appreciates them Grin

Rolled-up boyfriends sounds like a plan. I'm short so in skinnies and white shoes I'll look like one of the seven dwarfs. I do want to learn to love them!

I wear cropped skinnies with mine. The exposed ankle sliver means you don't look short.

BounceBounceSplishSplash · 14/03/2017 16:34

Agree a bit of exposed ankle helps break things up. Some ideas

Another one for boyfriend jeans and a blazer (like in Loup's post), it's my go-to outfit. Sometimes swap it out for a biker or bomber jacket. I also like high tops with T Shirt dresses, and oversized knits with jeans/leggings (I'm short too but you can get away with it!)

Thank you for the tip about air and grace. I've been looking for comfortable but lovely shoes. These look very promising. Thank you

ps bite the bullit and just tell him. Don't spend your life with not quite what you wanted to spare his feelings. He didn't get what you wanted. Was it a cost issue? Why did he get something different?

AgathaMystery · 14/03/2017 23:32

You have to tell him really. Wearing shoes you don't like so you don't upset him is just... well it's kind of strange Hmm

Also, no man would do this (wear shoes thy didn't like). Tell him nicely, I'm sure he will totally understand.

AspasiaFitzgibbon · 14/03/2017 23:40

O I can't. I had vaguely mentioned sparkly trainers and he was so pleased to come up with these.

I love those OP (although am also off to Google the ones you actually wanted). Imo Converse go with everything and technically silver's a neutral so you should be fine.

MaryLennoxsScowl · 15/03/2017 07:34

Why can't you tell him? Why would he be upset that you like one pair of trainers more than another? You could say you love him for the thought and going out to get them, but actually you had a specific pair in mind that you'd prefer. How could that upset anyone?

I like the converse better than the air & grace trainers, I'd wear them! With jeans/midi skirt.
