Getting oil/residue from a dry hair product out of hair...help!

Regular but name changed as I have moaned to my friends about this in RL and don't want to out myself...

My hair is prone to dry in winter so I bought this loreal conditioner, nearly a week after using it I have the most awful grease in my hair, head and shoulders won't shift it and neither has washing up liquid.

What can I use to strip out the product? I am tempted to buy some of this but would rather use something more hair friendly!

I personally havent tried it before but I read that Johnsons baby shampoo is a good at removing build up in hair. And it's cheap. But I can't vouch for its effectiveness

Try horse shampoo! There's a brand called mane n tail which you can get online or in some boots stores. It's very clarifying and leaves your hair super shiny.

Pantene clarifying shampoo is good for build up.

You need a clarifying shampoo and do 2 or 3 lather rinse repeat cycles. Pantene used to do one but I haven't seen it for a while in Asda or boots. Think a couple of the more expensive brands might do one.

Naturally, you could try googling lemon or egg with hair oil removal. I think both have some kind of mask / clarifying effect, but can't remember properly best check first as I don't want to be held responsible for bleaching your hair or scrambled eggs!!

I have to be so careful what products I buy now for my hair, I too have ended up with that heavy, dull, grease slick effect after buying what sounded like the most moisturising, luxury shampoo & conditioner..

I'm reasonably sure that clarifying shampoos are the same as johnsons no tears baby shampoo which is much cheaper. You could try applying shampoo before wetting hair, that's what works for coconut oil

I am glad it is not just me with this conditioner, I was worried that I had been hit by some sudden peri-menopause symptom! You would think that they tested this conditioner on people before they actually sold it, it really is horrible.

Your post made me laugh StayGoldPonyBoy! I am certainly willing to try horse shampoo at this stage, my scalp is now itching after the washing up liquid!

I may try lemons this morning as I cannot go out until this afternoon, if that doesn't work I will raid boots...thanks for the tips. If that fails then I will have to go and get it washed at the hairdressers I guess.

I always recommend this but get RedkencCleansing Cream which is a shampoo in a white bottle. It's about a tenner. I had horrific waxy greasy hair during pregnancy and breastfeeding (hormonal cause). Literally felt like I had poured oil on my hair immensiatelh after washing. I tried dozens of things including fairy liquid, baby shampoo, vinegar, bicarbonate and every shampoo on the market. This worked first time. Amazing. Leave it on for 3mins first time then rinse. I now use it once a week to get rid of product build up.
