Hello,

Hello, just need help finding manufacturers or brands that actually care about the environment and are ethical. Trying to also help British manufacturers.

I would really appreciate any suggestions. Thanks

Just as a heads up- uk manufacture has some of the worst ethical practises going

PickAChew · 01/03/2017 23:03

Why is that, NewBallsPlease?

I know we used to have the Leicester sweatshops etc, but weren't they abolished decades ago?

Basically people assume it doesn't happen in their back yard.
The big uk retailers who insist on standards and have clear practise in place don't put the volumes in like overseas on many sites, and so many many sites have no other party interested in their practises in same way
There is a huge amount of gang master labour in uk and textiles is part of that; all the old textile areas have challenges in different ways and you would find issues in same way
Support ethical labour can be using sites anywhere globally- it's about fair wages in situ- so someone paid £5 hour here is below min wage and illegal, but the headline of a worker paid £1 day sounds awful, even if min wage was 75p day.
